They continue to run higher for African-Americans than the overall population. A new report from the American Cancer Society says the death rate was 35% higher in African-American men and 18% higher in African-American women. Lung cancer was the most common cause of death. The situation is improving, but researchers say African-Americans are still more likely to be diagnosed at later stages of the disease.
