wondermom Posted February 7, 2007 Posted February 7, 2007 It was kind of a mixed bag today. Although the onc sounded like he was happy with the progress. He said there was significant improvement in the lungs but there was a small met on the liver and 2 small mets on the sacrum. Not necessarily progression there but we don't really know as this was her first scan. They added zoleta to her carbo/taxetore mix for the bones. Anyone have any experience with that?? We asked about adding Avistan but were told the risk of bleeding was too great because of the brain mets. Anyone have any thoughts on that? Have any of you been on Avistan who have had brain mets? I was disappointed to hear that we couldn't try it but I guess if it is too risky that is just how it is. Quote
Welthy Posted February 7, 2007 Posted February 7, 2007 Wonder, Check out Dr. West's website, http://www.onctalk.com/forum/ , as he has written on the topic of Avastin and bleeding. As far as Zometa, Tony receives that once a month and has had no side effects from that. It has helped his bones, along with the chemo. If the oncologist is happy with the progress, then it is good! Don M Posted February 8, 2007 Posted February 8, 2007 It sounds like the chemo is working. So, good. What is being done for the brain mets? Don M Quote
wondermom Posted February 8, 2007 Author Posted February 8, 2007 Hi Don, My mom had 15 days of WBR starting they day after they were found. She has an MRI scheduled for March 5th to see how those responded. Hopefully good! Would be nice if those were at least cleared up. Quote
