I had a reaction to Taxol. I remember telling DH to get nurse because I has having a hard time breathing. He called out to them and they started to run to me and then I passed out. I do not know how long I was out but had oxygen for a while and then they tried it again and I was ok. I hope everything works out good and you do not have another reaction.

One of Mom's chair buddies (sits next to her in chemo freguently) had a similiar reaction. The next time they started him off with the Benadryl, as I remember it, and he's been doing well ever since. The doctors will make this work for you, even if they have to try a different chemo.

I had a reaction to carboplatin during my sixth infusion. Just as the nurse was coming over to ask me how I was doing I was noticing that my mouth and face were getting really itchy. My heart started with palpitations and I got red all over. They gave me benadryl, which helped immediattly, but I then went on to get dizzy and throw up. Fortunately I was 15 minutes away from being done with the three hour infusion, and it was my last chemo, so no harm done.

They may up the dosage of steroids in the goodie bag of drugs infused before the taxotere for you. Tony had to take steroids for two days before chemo when he experienced the carbo reaction that Tracy described (didn't help, but that is what carbo can do after a certain number of treatments). Taxol/taxotere are common to have allergic reactions even early in the going. They may slow down the drip also, so you will be spending a lot more time during chemo.

Good luck and keep us posted!

I had same reaction as Heather during my second infusion of Taxol. I guess it was bad because they wouldn't give it to me again. Switched me to Abraxane which is Taxol coated in protein, not in any solvents like Paclitaxel. No problems with that. Now I'm worried about the carbo because of Tracy's reaction. I could do without another one of those...
