superior vena cava syndrome

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the insertion of a stent for superior vena cava syndrome. What is the success rate?

My husband was diagnosed due to vena cava syndrome but no one has ever mentioned putting in a stent. Why do they think this is necessary?

Here is some info on superior vena cava. It seems like stents are "generally" not used on cancer patients. It seems as if radiation is usually used.

Have they tried radiation? Also I *think* it may depend where the blockage is. If other veins can not compensate for the blockage then maybe a stent is used. This is just a guess.
