MEA
The lung windows demonstrate some mild fibrotic change within the medial aspect of the right upper lung. Hoping some of you might be able to explain what "fibrotic change" is? I am assuming it is lung damage from the radiation treatments, but most everything I am finding on the internet is in medical journals and it is way over my head. Thanks, Mary
teriw
Mary, I haven't a clue what that means; however, I wanted to suggest that you post your question on Dr. West's web site: http://www.onctalk.com/post/ in case he doesn't see this one. john
Basically I belive it is scaring of the lungs Sometimes steroids are given (I think) There are other drugs in trials for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. Idiopathic (means the cause is unknown). In your case it is not idiopathic the cause is probably radiation. Prifenidone is being tried for IPF (dont know if it applies to other pulmonary fibrosis) Good luck
