fight Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 Hello All, I had my appointment with the lung cancer specialist today and it went well. He didn't think that the progression was significant enough to change treatments. He explained that the Avastin could be working by slowing the tumor growth and may be keeping any new tumors from forming. The progression is in the area that the cancer is already in and there aren't any new areas of concern. He gave me three choices: Continue with Avastin, start Tarceva or start Tarceva with Avastin. With the fact the fact that I have been feeling good and enjoying a somewhat normal life I decided to continue with the Avastin alone. I will have another dose of Avastin in 3 weeks and then check my CEA and CA125 numbers. Although my doctor says that he would never base treatment on the tumor markers but if they were to become significantly elevated than that might be the cause for concern. I will then have another dose of Avastin 3 weeks after that and then re-scan. Whew! The roller coaster ride continues. I am so grateful for all of you who have given me so much support in this journey. Thank you for all your words of encouragement. Take Care, Rachel Quote
