Amie emailed me about the arrival of her son Levi.

Sorry I could not attach the pics. He is adorable. But we knew that, I mean look at his mom and dad. :D Iam sure Suki is beaming

Since I was away I checked to see if she posted here. I could not find anything on here, unless I missed it somehow. I also asked her on email if I could tell the board. I guess she is really busy as she has not given me an answer.

But I feel since it is great news... I will share it as Amie has been so special to many of us. Here is the email. This was dated May 27th.

Baby has arrived! This is a very random "to" list, some of you already know this and are just getting pictures, but for the rest of you here's the scoop. After 10 weeks of bedrest, Levi Martin Hogan simply could not wait any longer. He made his debut at 9:36 AM on Sunday, May 27, 2007, after a relatively short labor that went exactly the way his parents hoped it would. I am recovering well, with just a few stitches and a GORGEOUS baby boy to show for my efforts.

This is a very random "to" list, some of you already know this and are just getting pictures, but for the rest of you here's the scoop...

Even though he was born at only 33 weeks gestation, Levi weighed in at 5 lbs. 5 oz. Being a preemie, it took him some time to figure out how to breathe on his own but has has been off of respiratory support since Sunday night. Still in the NICU (most likely for another weeks and a half or so), he's now working on the formidable tasks (for a baby his age) of learning to suck, regulate his body temperature and flush the jaundice from his system.

He is a handsome boy and mom and dad are both over the moon. Pictures are attached, of course, and please feel free to forward to anyone whose address I didn't have here - long days in the hospital and long nights spent snuggled up to a breast pump leave me only so much online time. The blue light is the treatment for jaundice, and the crazy looking helmet and goggles protect his eyes from the light. The tube on his face is a feeding tube and the things on his chest are monitors, plus a splinted IV in his arm, but he really is doing great. Thanks for all the support during my pregnancy and bedrest, Levi would like to thank you as well.

On another random note, in my haste to get back to the hospital yesterday I left my cell phone on the C train. Any emailed phone numbers would be much appreciated.

xoxo

Amie and Dave, a/k/a Levi's mom

PS. For those of you wondering, yes, Levi is pronounced like the blue jeans. Levi was a rebellious son of Leah and Jacob is Genesis (the book, not the band) and is the founder of one of the 12 tribes of Israel, the Levites. Levi is, apparently, also the deciple Matthew's Hebrew name, and it means "joined with god". It's also just cool, we think. Martin was my grandfather's name.

Peace on Earth.
