nomadawn
Hi all, My mum has only recently begun to cough up very small spots of blood in the mornings. She has never had this before. She is doing ok otherwise. Is this a bad sign halfway through treatment? Her last x ray showed 'improvement' so I am a bit confused. God bless Debbie x
shineladysue
Debbie , it seems that there are various reasons for coughing up blood , but her doctor should be told about the frequency and amount. I wouldn't delay in telling him. Sue
Welthy
Sue is right -- any blood should be reported to the Doctor. Tony has coughed up bloody sputum when he was bad and when he was good, so there is no telling exactly why. His usually is in the morning too. Ry
Sometimes it is just irritation from coughing. Our oncologist is not worried about the small streaked sputum, only if it is bright red and in a larger amount.
nomadawn
Thanks everyone for your responses. I did speak to mums oncologist about this yesterday and he was not too concerned with a few spots. He did say quantity was significant though so looks ok so far. Thanks for helping Debbie
