Fay A. Posted October 28, 2003 Share Posted October 28, 2003 It's tomorrow afternoon, but the fires are still burning between where I live and where the ceremony will be held. There's no way I can breathe down there. With active burns going on there's no way I can drive through the fires, either. I barely avoiding being caught in the Harris Grade Fire a few years ago, passing an area just before a wall of flame jumped the highway from one side to side I was on.....I don't know why I didn't die then. I kept asking myself if my tires were going to melt before I made it up the hill. Tomorrow I will be there in spirit, Janet Kukawsky. Fay A.
