Although Lung Cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States, it receives a small fraction of research funding as compared to other cancers. Lung Cancer kills more Americans each year than breast, prostate, colorectal, and pancreatic cancers combined. “HWA is proud to support the LUNGevity Foundation and we will do everything in our power to help raise awareness of this deadly disease. Our Web site will turn Purple in November and we’ll donate a portion of our November sales directly to the LUNGevity Foundation.” said Marc Roth, HWA president. The LUNGevity Foundation’s mission is to fund leading-edge lung cancer research at the foremost cancer institutions in the country. Since its inception in 2001 by seven lung cancer survivors, LUNGevity has committed more than $3.7 million to lung cancer research. LUNGevity is currently hosting events across the country during Lung Cancer Awareness Month. To see if there is an event in your area, visit www.lungevity.org. KatieB
YAY!!!! This is the first time I've heard of a business doing this specifically for Lung Cancer. Find the original article and print it out. Then when you go ask your local businesses to do the same thing next year (or when you write your letters to National Corporations) you can use this article as an example of how a business STEPPED up to the plate. I am going to write this business and BIG thank you. P.S. Remember to make your requests and ask for next November starting in JANUARY.
