is this the area for introducing your self?? please tell me iam not a dodo and cant navagate this site,i beat lung cancer, surly i can doo this :) i had a question, first, let me tell u about my story of survial, im 47 yrs old just moved to connecticutt, and have severe asthma, and needed meds, so had to see a dr, she ordered x-rays and they found a spot, had it biopsied, it came back cancer 2cm nsclc, imbarressed to say, not sure of the stage, every one here seems to know so much info ,maybe a 2?? but, because of my breathing problems, they only did the wedge, other drs in yale wanted the lobectomy, but my surgeon, said it would leave me on oxegyn for life, and my oncologist said chemo or radiation would also leave me dependent on oxegyn, and would deteriate my lung, so i agreed and trusted my dr, i was inabated and had 3 tubes put in my chest and was in intesive care for 10 days then released 3 weeks later, i just had a cat scan it came back with no signs of any cancer, but i have had exteme pain in my shoulders and arms, and read similar stories here, and trouble swallowing is this normal?? glad i found this site, every one seeeems warm and nice";)

Welcome Debbiedoo, did your diagnosis and surgery just happen this year? Was that your first CT post op? If all was clear sounds like a good reason to celebrate. Did they give you the big smiley incision? or did they do the wedge by scoped? Those of us that have the "smiley" had to have a couple of ribs broken and a nerve severed so we have some residual "discomfort" , in other works - pain. BE sure to do range of motion of your arm and shoulder on the affected side if you have the smiley to prevent problems in the shoulder. Keep us posted on how things are going Donna G

WOW!!

Welcome to our home away from home.

The only thing I have to dissagree about is the oxigen. I had my left lung removed and had a 7cm tumor there.I was staged as stage IIb nscls.

I spent a total of 3 days on oxigen. its been 1 1/2 years and since then It returned in my adrenal glands and my brain. I just started my 5th round of chemo and had 14 whole head rad treatments and I still have had no oxigen.or needed it. I feel when people start second guessing your doctors, its time to look for other doctors.
