Alan chemo update

Well Alan had his 1st appointment with his medical

oncologist since chemo started up again, and we did

not get very good news. After just 2 cycles of what

is considered very mild chemo all Alan's blood counts

tanked. In fact we went straight from the Drs office

across the street to the hospital for an overnight stay for blood transfusions

as hemoglobin down to 8.3

Alan's white blood cells are down to 900. So the plan

now is one more attempt with etoposide, but now it will

be 1 week on and 2 weeks off.

In addition Alan continues to get weaker, now needs

to use a wheelchair if we leave the house and he is

down to 147 pounds. Nobody is giving up hope, Alan

has fought the beast for over 3 years now, and we all

feel he has more fight left in him.

Please keep us in your prayers that Alan's counts go

back up in the next couple of weeks so he can give

chemo one more try.

Debbie,

I'll be keeping you and Alan in my prayers, for sure.

He and Harry seem to be going thru such similar situations, with the reactions to the chemo drugs, etc.

Hoping that Alan has a quick "bounce back", as Harry calls the episode's when he starts feeling better, after feeling so lousy.

Debbie,

I know what you are going through. I am sorry to hear the counts are down. Please know that you and Alan are in my thoughts and prayers for a better outcome with his blood counts. You two are great fighters of this beast and if anyone can fight through another bout, it's you two. God bless.

Debbie and Alan,

Prayers sent for all good things. Tony was forced to use a wheelchair two different periods of time. Hopefully this will pass for Alan too, he will regain his strength with the blood transfusion, and be ambulatory again. My heart goes out to you both.

Damn I am so sorry to hear what you poor hubby is going through. I am sending prayers out to him for healing and for you for support.

He has been going through so much. I hope his counts come up. He will so much better when they do.

During Joel's last chemo (read profile) you will see they gave him Decadron before, day of and day after. Will also get a shot of Leunesta the day after jus to keep his counts.

Debbi keep us posted and know there are prayers sent to your Alan and we are always here for you.

Maryanne
