OK, can I panic now???

After spending two hours yesterday pre-registering for the bone biopsy scheduled for today at 1 p.m. I arrived to a wide eyed nurse that said ... did the doctor not speak with you. I answer I have not spoken with anyone I have been on road to get here. Long story short the radiologist that was to perform the biopsy looked at my PET scan and said due to the location it was to dangerous and he would not perform the biopsy. The location to my knowledge is the T2 thoracic sping area. So now they are going to do an MRI. That is not going to tell them if this is a primary or is from the lung cancer. If they do not know what it is then how do we approach treatment? Anyone willing to panic with me or can you calm me down again? Thanks folks.

I wouldn't panic Judy. I would be really upset after putting all that effort into doing it and expect to have some answers pretty soon. Too bad a radiologist didn't bother to look at the scan sooner. Have you talked with your Onc. yet? When do you see her/him? Have you had other cancers? I don't see them listed in your profile. This will all be ok. It's just taking too much time. I'm sorry.

Judy -

Please don't panic. I agree it sucks that the doctors couldn't have told you this earlier!!! But lets wait and see what the MRI says before we panic too much (yea, right, easy to say, huh?).

You have my e-mail address from earlier in the week. E-mail me anytime and we will help you get thru this. Remember, we are all in this together!!

I will be thinking of you.

Hugs - Patti B.

Well, Judy, you best listen to everybody here who are telling you NOT to panic. Now that's not saying that I wouldn't be, but I guess I would have to listen to them too. Hope you get questions answered soon, so you can just get on with things, ya know? Doesn't it seem like we are always being thrown a curve ball? That's to keep us sharp and on our toes. Well, don't need those pitches, if you know what I'm saying. I'm hoping for the best for you, Judy. Hang in there.

This is Friday and I hate to be left hanging. I have an e-mail into one doc and a call in to another. Thanks folks I will put the panic on hold for bit.

 They have me scheduled for an MRI January 30th at 7:30 a.m. Until then me and my Ativan followed by a possible margarita if we go to the casino shall see me through the weekend nicely. The panic is long gone because it is what it is and fretting about will not change anything except to make me sick. Thanks to each and every one of you for being there. It now appears that it is on the T2 area of the spine but is on the left side by the ribs. Not even going to wager a guess as to why he said a biopsy was to dangerous just going to trust that he knows what he is doing. Again thank you ALL!!! :P

Hang in there Judy--Mom had a biopsy on her T1 last year. It is where we got the diagnosis of cancer. The good news is that hopefully they can do radiaition to get rid of that nasty little tumor. Mom did 15 treatments and the spine met is gone and hasn't come back. That radiation was a walk in the park compared to chemo (it is not nearly as nasty as chest radiation or WBR, apparently).

Will be saying a prayer for you on the 30th.

Susan

ps--I'd call the Dr. and ask why it is too dangerous. I'd want to know.
