Max & Inez Update

Recommended Posts

Just want to update everyone on our life. Since Dec 7th, when I had the upper left lobe of my lung removed, I have been doing well. Still have a little cough left, but thus far, no further treatments are necessary. Probably the luckiest guy in the world, even with prostate and lung cancers along with heart disease and diabetis. Am having some problem with left ankle and leg retaining some water and therefore swelling up. Will be seeing doctor this week to check on it. Am changing my pulmonologist and have written her a letter telling her that we think she is an excellent doctor, but her assistant and office staff were extremely uncaring and incompetant to the point that Inez and I practically had to arrange all the treatment ourselves as they never followed through on her orders, plus they were very rude. Have always said you must be your own advocate. Anyway, after retiring for several years from the antique and collectible business, two weeks ago we decided to open up again. Everyone wants to know if we fell off the turnip truck. So far it is fun and when it becomes work Inez and I will retire again. Just want to wish you all the very best and to remind all to stay positive, keep fighting, keep records, be your own advocate and never, never give up. [/b]

Everything sounds wonderful, Max. I must admit, I was wondering where the heck you were for a while. Now I know and am very happy for both of you. I hope you don't get so busy that you forget to check in from time to time to give us a shout out, ya hear now?

Good luck in you new/old venture. And I'll do my best to stay positive.

Just got a lap computer and having hard time getting used to typing on it. May have sent this but not certain so will reply again. Inez and I thankyou all for your caring replys. We just returned from seeing my oncologist in California, DrLam, regarding my prostate and we are thrilled to find out my PSA is now 0.005, which is fanastic. Still beleive that without Inez by my side I would not be able to feel as well nor maintain a positive attitude. She really is my rock. All stay well and stay positive.

Hi Max!!!

I have been wondering about you two! And I LOVE the picture ~ Inez is truly a beautiful woman whose lovely spirit shines through her eyes!! You are both SO very blessed!!

I am happy to hear you are recovering well. And, saddened to hear you had to deal with such rudeness and incompetence at your pulmonologist's office. There seems to be no shortage of this in this state...Lord knows I've dealt with my share, as well. Check, again, at Mayo in Scottsdale. Dr. Viggiano is AWESOME!!! I just saw him again, on Valentine's Day. After using a highly detailed CT scan with some kind of extra computerized reconstruction, (similar to the MAP(?) technology used in PET, I think...) he determined that only 4 of the 7 (plus, depending on the scan  )nodules in my lungs are truly worrisome and, after 3 years of scans EVERY THREE MONTHS, he finally graduated me to 1 annual CT with xray at 6 month intervals, barring any new symptoms or changes. He said, even if it is BAC, they (mayo) are currently scanning most BAC patients on an annual CT/6 month xray schedule because of its' indolent nature. While costly, that facility has given me a 12 month lease on life (instead of these li'l 3-month chunks... ) and the competence and courtesy received are world-reknowned. Okay...now I sound like an ad... )

At any rate...congrats on the great recovery, and wonedrful PSA results! And BEST of luck to you and Inez in your endeavor!

Yours in HOPE!

Stacey

Stacey, thankyou for the kind words, especially about Inez. I really am one lucky man. I have made an appointment to see a Dr Stephen Nathan, so will see what he has to say. If this does not work out I may call your Doctor. Now you know why Inez and I travel to Marina Del Rey, California to see our oncologist for the prostate cancer. Difficult to find both competence and caring. Glad you are doing better. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Keep fighting and stay as positive as possible.

I just want to add my 2 cents (I wonder where that cliche'came from) anyway, I'm thrilled with your diagnosis. Sorry for all the aggravation you went through with the staff. It's hard enough going through this and it only makes it worse when you have incompetant people like that.

Your wife is beautiful and being right there by your side certainly help your with this battle. I love your attitude and your statement on your posts. It shows the kind of person you are.

You are both an inspiration to me and so many on here that there is always hope and NEVER GIVE UP!!

Good luck,

Maryanne

Thankyou Maryanne for your kind words, but it is so true that you only have one day at a time and you should live it to the fullest. When I see all the bad things that happen in this world, particularly to young people, I feel very fortunate too have reached my age and even more fortunate to be so happy, which I really attribute to having such a wonderful loving and caring wife by my side. Please do stay positive and keep fighting.
