klooty
Words are powerful.... My dad has a message board in his room at the hospital and for the two days so far, I have put a message of encouragement on it to help him try and focus and remember the important things.... The first one was "Falling is the easy part. The hard part is getting up again and dusting yourself off" and then tonite I left this message on the board "Those whos hope is in the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up on wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not be faint" - Is. 40:31 Now I turn to you... Everyone must have had, at one point or another, words that moved them. Words that inspired them. Words that encouraged them. I would love it, if you could send them to me... Post them here and I will put them on my dad's message board so that he can be inspired as well.... It was cool.... I didn't know if he'd read the one I put on last night, but he did. Cause he asked me to think up another one for tomorrow... And I told him,,, I already got one... I grabbed his bible and went right to Isaiah and wrote out that well known verse.... Tomorrow I'm gonna change it again... I would love to bring something from someone from this place.... My hopes and prayers are with you all tonite... And with you daddy... Take care of yourself... dadstimeon
Hi Adam, Sorry to hear about your father. My mother sent me this. Thought you might like it. Peace, take care and God bless. Rich Our Lady Of Lourdes, Pray For Us: O Mother of Mercy, Healer of the sick, Look with mercy on me And comfort me in My time of trouble. Prayer to Our Lady for Healing: Dear and blessed Lady of Lourdes, you bathe all in your radiant light, and soothe the suffering with healing waters of the spring you revealed to Saint Bernadette. Though I am far from your sacred grotto, look with compassion on me. See my need for your healing love. See how my body fails me. See how troubled is my soul. I ask you humbly not only for healing, Mother Immaculate, but to wash away my doubts and misgivings, to solidify my faith, to open my heart to your healing love, and the love of your Son, thus to see that this suffering, which now seems so overwhelming, my soon be healed. MO_Sugar
Adam, Mine is simple. "Let go and Let God". We, as mere mortals can not do the healing. It has to come from a higher plane. We can fuss and worry and carry on but in the end all we have done is fuss and worry and carry on! I give my pain and questions to the Lord and he takes care of things so I can concentrate on spending quality time with my family and loved ones. All things are possible through God. Prayers for your Dad and your family. God Bless.
Margaret
Adam, When I started my medical journal (that little red book where I jot questions for my doctors, names and dosages of any drugs, number of my pharmacy, FAX numbers, family and neighborhood telephone numbers...all those things you need on the endless round of medical visits), I wrote on the inside cover: "You must do the things you think you cannot do." (Eleanor Roosevelt) As I started down this road, I didn't think I could do these things...give myself injections, stay calm as chemo was being pumped through my veins, stay upbeat when my hair was buzzed off, change doctors when totally fatigued by treatments because she kept answering my questions with "you were told you were incurable," HOWEVER, I did all those things. A friend of mine sent me a a box of thoughts on courage...little one by two inch cards with quotes. It slips into my pocket and I can read through some of them while waitings to see the doctor, to have the scan, to get the blood draw results. I was recently thinking that I could leave one or two of these cards in the waiting room, in case someone needs that inspiration during his/her wait. -Cheryl-
Adam, I loved your humorous story from you other post. It was a "gas!" Ha! Here are some qoutes that I like... Why is it when we talk to God we are said to be praying, and when God talks back to us we're said to be schizophrenic? Lily Tomolin Faith is to believe what we do not see, the reward of this faith is to see what we believe. Saint Augustine Ten minutes of genuine belly laughter had an anesthetic effect and would give me at least two hours of pain-free sleep. Norman Cousins It is our attitude at the beginning of a difficult undertaking which more than anything else, will determine its outcome. William James Come to the edge. No, we will fall. Come to the edge. No, we will fall. They came to the edge. He pushed them, and they flew. Guillaume Appolinaire And last, but not least, print this for your Dad's doctor. AS I ate breaakfast this morning, I overheard two oncologists conversing. One complained bitterly , "You know, Bob, I just don't understand it. We used the same drugs, the same dosage, the same schedule and the same entry criteria. Yet I got a 22 percent response rate and you got a 74 percent. That's unheard of for metastatic cancer. How do you do it? His colleague replied, "We're both using Etoposide, Platinum, Oncovin, and Hydroxyurea. You call yours EPOH. I tell my patients I'm giving them HOPE. As dismal as statistics are, I emphasize that we have a chance." William Buchholz, M.D. Hope this helps! Cheryl

Guest CindiB
Here are a few, hope these help and that you can use them Blessings, Cindi My God Strengthens Me I can do all things through God, who strengthens me. The road to success is not straight. There is a curve called Failure, a loop called Confusion. There are speed bumps called Friends, red lights called Enemies, And a caution light called Family. You will also have flats, often called jobs. But if you have a spare called Determination, an engine called Perseverance, insurance called Faith, and a driver called God, You will be sure to make it, to a place that's called Success. What doesn't kill us, makes us stronger. There is no key to happiness. The door is always open. Do the math . . .Count your blessings. Faith is the ability to not panic. Laugh every day. It's like inner jogging. If you worry, pray more. If you pray, don't worry. As a child of God, prayer is kind of like calling home everyday. Blessed are the flexible, for they shall not be bent out of shape. The most important things in your home are the people. When we get tangled up in our problems, be still so God can untangle the knots. We do not remember days, but moments. Learn from the turtle. It only makes progress when it sticks out its neck. Never mind learning the tricks of the trade, just learn the trade. If God be for us, who can stand against us.Without God, I am nothing but with God, I can do all things The power of God, the power of healing, the power of the spirit, the power of the mind, the power of love. All these things are within your power. The only way through a tough time is, through it. We cannot direct the wind, but we can adjust our sails. "Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising every time we fail." "Character is built out of circumstances. From exactly the same materials one man builds palaces, while another builds hovels." The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands in times of challenge and controversy. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green [1] pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest [2] my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
