'Celebrate Hope' for lung cancer research at Capital Brewery

The Capital Times — 7/01/2008 6:41 pm

A new event to support national lung cancer research will be held at Middleton's Capital Brewery in August.

Celebrate Hope will benefit the Creating Hope Lung Cancer Campaign, which provides funds for lung cancer research at University of Wisconsin's Paul P. Carbone Comprehensive Cancer Center in Madison.

The event -- Sunday, Aug. 10 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. -- will be hosted by the Credit Union Executives Society (CUES), a Madison-based independent membership association.

The inaugural event hopes to expand on the efforts of CUES' annual Drive for Hope golf tournament, which will be held the following day.

Tickets for the event are $30 per individual or $50 per family and will include buffet-style food, beverages, activities for children and entertainment by the a cappella group The UW Madhatters.

This year's Drive for Hope golf outing will be held Aug. 11 at Bishops Bay Country Club in Middleton. Drive for Hope, which has raised $163,000 to date, is seeking sponsorships from area businesses and individuals, as well donations to the silent auction.

Current sponsors include Uniek, Summit Credit Union, TDS Telecom and Morgan Stanley, as well as media partners ESPN 1070, Madison Magazine and the Wisconsin State Journal.
