RandyW
Heard a song on the way to work this morning an as much as I hate to cry I had to pull over for about 5 minutes rathr than change channel cause I love this song so much. Artist/Band: Brooks And Dunn Lyrics for Song: Believe Lyrics for Album: Hillbilly Deluxe Old man Wrigley lived in that white house Down the street where i grew up Momma used to send me over with things We struck a freindship up I spent a few long summers out on his old porch swing Says he was in the war when in the navy Lost his wife, lost his baby Broke down and asked him one time How ya keep from going crazy He said I'll see my wife and son in just a little while I asked him what he meant He looked at me and smiled, said (Chorus) I raise my hands, bow my head I'm finding more and more truth in the words written in red They tell me that there's more to life than just what i can see Oh i believe Few years later i was off at college Talkin' to mom on the phone one night Getting all caught up on the gossip The ins and outs of the small town life She said oh by the way son, old man Wrigley's died. Later on that night, i laid there thinkin' back Thought 'bout a couple long-lost summers I didn't know whether to cry or laugh If there was ever anybody desevred a ticket to the other side It'd be that sweet old man who looked me in the eye, said (Chorus) I raise my hands, bow my head I'm finding more and more truth in the words written in red They tell me that there's more to life than just what i can see I can't quote the book The chapter or the verse You can't tell me it all ends In a slow ride in a hearse You know I'm more and more convinced The longer that i live Yeah, this can't be No, this can't be No, this can't be all there is (Chorus) When I raise my hands, bow my head I'm finding more and more truth in the words written in red They tell me that there's more to life than just what i can see I believe Oh, I I believe I believe I believe I believe I believe [Thanks to Justme16@tampabay.rr.com for lyrics] Yeah I know its country but its the music that I love!!!!!Jus t makes me sad........ shineladysue
(((Randy))), I understand. Sometimes, I continue to listen and ball my eyes out and other times, I have to turn the music off because I just don't want to be sad that day. You just have to let it out sometimes... Randy , don't drive and play country music. you won't be able to see where you are going.. I"m sure there is a warm blanket from the dryer for you today. RandyW
That would be Collin Raye; One day shy of eight years old, When grandma passed away. I was a broken hearted little boy, Blowing out that birthday cake. How I cried when the sky let go, With a cold lonesome rain. My mom smiled, said: "Don't be sad child. "Grandma's watching you today." "'Cos there's holes in the floor of Heaven, "And her tears are pouring down. "That's how you know she's watching, "Wishing she could be here now. "An' sometimes if you're lonely, "Just remember she can see. "There's holes in the floor of Heaven "And she's watching over you and me." Seasons come and seasons go, Nothing stays the same. I grew up, fell in love, Met a girl who took my name. Year by year, we made a life, In this sleepy little town. I thought we'd grow old together, Lord, I sure do miss her now. But there's holes in the floor of Heaven, And her tears are pouring down. That's how I know she's watching, Wishing she could be here now. An' sometimes when I'm lonely, I remember she can see. There's holes in the floor of Heaven, And she's watching over you and me. Well my little girl is 23, I walk her down the aisle. It's a shame her Mom can't be here now, To see her lovely smile. They throw the rice, I catch her eye, As the rain starts coming down. She takes my hand; says: "Daddy don't be sad, 'Cos I know Mama's watching now." "And there's holes in the floor of Heaven "And her tears are pouring down. "That's how you know she's watching, "Wishing she could be here now. "An' sometimes when I'm lonely, "I just remember she can see. "Yes, there's holes in the floor of Heaven, "And she's watching over you and me." Watching over you and me. Watching over you and me. Watching over you and me.

lilyjohn
Randy I know how much those songs can get to you but still they speak right to the heart. I have a very special place in my heart for Country music. I was raised on it and it was because of Coiuntry music that I met Johnny 50 years ago next February. My brother had a group there playing and asked me over. I was so young but as I walked in the door I heard the most wonderful voice so pure country and so much emotion. That person singing was Johnny. That night after a while he sang an old Hank Willilams song "Teardrop on a Rose". The conversation we shared about that song afterwards led to a smile that melted my heart and I can close my eyes and still see that smile and hear him singing that beautiful song. Yesterday I put the TV on the ClassicCountry station and another song that kept going through my mind when Johnny and I first started to communicate again was Rodney Crowel's "After all this time". Still today that song says it all. After All This Time There were trains and we out-run 'um There were songs and we out-sung 'um There were brighter days never ending There was time and we were burnin' There were rhymes and we were learnin' There was all the love two hearts could hold And after all this time...You're always on my mind Hey I could never let it end "Cause my heart takes so long to mend The dream that keeps your hopes alive, the lonely nights you hold inside And afte all ths time You're always on my mind I still want you There was rain that we outlasted There was pain but we got past it There were last good-byes still left unspoken There were ways I should have thrilled you There were days When I could have killed you You're the only love my life has known And after all this time You're always on my mind Hey I could never let you go, A broken heart that heals so slow Could never beat for somone new while you're alive and I am too After all this time you're always on my mind I still miss you And I could never let it end "cause my heart takes so long to mend The dream that keeps your hopes alive, the lonely nights you hold inside And after all this time You're always on my mind I still want you Hey after all this time you're always on my mind I still love you The only thing I found out different is that even when I am the only one of us still allive these words are still true after nearly 6 years without him. Patti B
Randy- As I said in my earlier post, I love country music. Holes in the Floor of Heaven was one of the first country songs I fell in love with. Now - another real tear-jerker is When I Get to Where I'm Going by Brad Paisley. The video is awesome - there are many movie stars, singers, etc. on it - all who have lost someone. Hugs - Patti B. CaroleHammett
As a lung cancer patient, one of the hardest things about all this, Randy, is knowing how much harder it is for those of you we leave behind than it is on ourselves. My deep and eternal condolences and thanks to you and the many others among us who have suffered such terrible losses and yet remain here for the rest of us. You light up our lives. Affectionately, Carole
Leela
(((Randy))) Both of those songs always get me too. I had to leave a store the other day when I heard that Colin Raye song. Also "The Dance" by Garth Brooks and "How can I help you to say goodbye" by Patty Loveless - always tears. Thanks for always being here for everyone. Hope you are remembering to take care of yourself too. Hugs, Lisa
KatieB
ahhhh (((Randy))) There are times when that distant pain feels so fresh and this sounds like one of those times. CaroleHammett
You and Me Against the World by Helen Reddy (Tell me again, Mommy.) You and me against the world Sometimes it feels like You and me against the world When all the others Turn their backs and walk away You can count on me to stay Remember when the circus came to town And you were frightened by the clown Wasn't it nice to be around Someone that you knew Someone who was big and strong And looking out for You And me against the world Sometimes it feels like You and me against the world And for all the times we've cried I always felt that God was on our side And when one of us is gone And one of us is left to carry on Then remembering will have to do Our memories alone will get us through Think about the days of me and you You and me against the world (I love you, Mommy) (I love you, too, Baby) Carole
wendyr
(((Randy))) I logged on tonight and saw your post. Sorry this is such a painful time for you. Time seems to go so quickly and then we are left with memories. The song is beautiful and I can easily understand the effect it had on you. Take care, and know that I think of you often.
