My Myspace Blog:

wow! What a great event! For a grassroots first year effort without volunteers, we raised over $37,000 and counting, blowing the top off our original $15K goal! Thank you for all the support! It was a beautiful day (83 degrees) and a beautiful setting for the 1.2 mile and 5K walk/run. There were SO MANY people there!!

Thank you Gov. Rick Perry for the proclamtion again this year along with Mayors Tom Leppert of Dallas and Dr. Robert Cluck of Arlington.

There were some glitches and I was a frazzled mess by the time it started=

1) I lost my keys that morning and was off schedule AND the trailer with all our stuff got lost for a short while too.

2) the massage therapy people who were giving away free massages did NOT show

3) the bounce house was a hour late for the kids area

4) the person who was to bring the water didn't show and

5) the medical expert who was scheduled to speak was called away on an emergency and couldn't make it!! ARGhhh.....

But everyone else came and the participating groups (LAF, Cancer Care, Ameriplan, Plaza Medical, SOS for Lung Health) were amazing with their tables and goodies. Thanks to Decision Analyst we had one water stop along the trail and fantastic goody bags from Whole Foods. The speakers I had scheduled, both lung cancer survivors (Bud Baker and Jerrold Dash), were inspirational and simply incredible. And I've gotten so much positive feedback today on the event itself. I'm already planning bigger and better for next year! (minus losing my keys and giving poor directions to the delivery guy)

Thank you all for your support this year and keep advocating this November for lung cancer awareness!!!

Remember that all of us are at risk for the deadliest cancer killer with the least funding and even less treatment options. Let's keep working to save lives.

P.S. Keep checking the www.lcwalk.com website for updates and photos. All the pics are coming in and I'll post them as fast as I can along with some youtube video of the event and our speakers soon.

xoxo

Wow, Katie, I just took the time to really look at the link you provided here. What an AWESOME job. You always do such a professional job. I am so very impressed with the site you put togetherand all the info covered. I'm sure next year you will blow the roof off the house once this gets out to sponsors and walkers.

Once again.........so glad to be counted among your friends.

L&T,

Kasey
