Ann Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 What's the one dessert that you just couldn't leave off your Thanksgiving table? Quote
Ann Posted November 10, 2008 Author Posted November 10, 2008 Pumpkin Pie with lots of whipped cream...of course!!! Quote
cat127 Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 My family has to have my late mother's apple pie. Not that she made it, cause that would be really old pie. But her recipe. I'm allergic to apples though, so I don't eat it. For me, I have to have the pumpkin pie like you Ann! Quote
RandyW Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 Nop Dessert For Me!!!! Yes I am a Pastry Chef by trade and not a big dessert person anymore!!!! Quote
blueeye Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 Ditto on the pumpkin pie. Luckily I learned to make my Mom's but never learned to make her mother's butterscotch pie. That was good too. Cat--how can one be allergic to APPLES?? That's odd, huh? Quote
Ann Posted November 10, 2008 Author Posted November 10, 2008 Wow...butterscotch pie.....that sounds really good right now!!!! Quote
Larry's Wife Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 Mom is the pie baker in our family. We have three traditional family pies...mince meat (my dad's and Larry's favorite - we aren't having that this year ), pumpkin and rum. I have never heard of anybody else that does rum pie. It's made with melted marshmallows, whipped cream and a touch of rum. Unique and delicious. Quote
Ry Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 Got to have the pumpkin pie. Even if I wanted to change the kids wouldn't let me. Quote
cat127 Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 I have no idea what it is with apples, but it makes my mouth tingle. When I was 4, a candy I ate made my mouth tingle, followed by my throat closing and I turned a lovely shade of blue on my way to the ER. So that feeling is usually a signal to stop eating something. And it is a shame as I used to be able to eat them and I loved them. Quote
