KatieB
I never really liked to decorate aside from a tree- but with kids come the boxes and boxes of decorations and trees and lights and sparkles...I love watching them more than the decorating! When do you start decorating for the holidays? I used to start right after thanksgiving. My MIL decorates the day after Halloween!!
RandyW
When my Maine Xmas wreath arrives in the mail. And Im done in less than 5 minutes decorating!!!

SandraL
We go all out every year. Inside and out. I will post a pic when our outdoor display is done this year. Our weather here permits us to do lots and I love it! Sandra
Ann
Normally, I do all of my Christmas decorating the day after Thanksgiving. I have quite a few Thanksgiving decorations and I like to have them out when the family all comes for dinner. It seems that thanksgiving gets pushed between Halloween and Christmas and just doesn't get enough recognition. But...come the day after Thanksgiving, I'm ready to deck the halls!!! Ry
I'm not big on outdoor decorating but I do like to do the inside of the house and I love to do the tree. Christmas ornaments are my weakness, I can't resist buying more every year. I always like to put garland or something on the fireplace mantle too. Larry's Wife
Larry used to go all out with outside lights and decorating the whole house. Lights everywhere, decorations on every available surface, an 8-ft. real tree with thousands of lights and all of our hundreds of handmade ornaments, mantle decorated to the hilt, an awesome Nativity that we hand-painted the first year we were married, the whole bit. If it weren't for Nick, I don't think I would even bother this year. But he deserves to have some semblance of a normal Christmas, so we'll just scale it down a bit. So we'll go with a smaller tree and not so many lights on the outside. And we'll have our Nativity and our mantle. We'll start after Thanksgiving. blueeye
I was just gonna skip it too but my Mom's sister and her husband are coming down to be with me, so I'm gonna go all out. Well, as much as I can stand. I didn't do anything last year. My Mom always did a tree and lots of little knick knack stuff that she switched out with her regualr ones. It's going to really hurt to go through that stuff. I keep peeking at it, but I haven't touched it.
jaminkw
I always start the weekend after Thanksgiving. It is getting to be more of a chore every year--big tree, lots of ornaments many lovingly wrapped. I also switch out decorator items all around the house for Christmas ones. But my friend Jim (who recently passed from this world) and I counted on each other to appreciate our handiwork. Oh but he was so much more talented than I. It's going to be hard. The tree for sure but don't know how much more. Judy in Key West
Sis
Decorating for Christmas is my favorite thing!! However, since a part of my business includes decorating for commercial and residential, sometimes our house seems to lack my full attention. Just for fun, I think this year I'm gonna count just how many bows I tie!! Ellie
Jyoung20
I have heard of survivors on our board who put a candle in the window during the holiday season as a symbol of those lives lost. We should do something as a board like that.... Any ideas!! xoxo Jamie
blueeye
OOOh, I like that Jamie. I'm gonna put candles in my windows for my parents, my uncle, and my doggies. Uh...I may need more windows.
KatieB
I love it. My idea is for us all to incorporate the candle(s) in our decoration (either indoors or out) and snap a photo. I can make a slideshow of it if you guys want and post it here.
CherylNJ
The outdoor decorations go up the day after thanksgiving. I usually put up the tree and decorate the inside of the house the week after. Hopefully I have the energy for it all!
Patti B
I LOVE decorating for Xmas. I start the day after Thanksgiving. Its become such a task for me the last two years but I refuse to give in. I remove every dish and plate and switch out for my Xmas dishes. Glasses and cups, too. Then the house decorations start. I clean off every shelf and table in the house and swap out for Xmas decorations. I have been collecting snowmen forever (long before it was cool to do so) and have an extensive amount of them. I also collect Father Christmases. I do a very large C-mas village, too which is beautiful. The joke in my family is that if you stand still in my house, I will decorate you!!! We do very little outside - lights in the bushes and I made a light up candy cane wreath and then we have large candy canes on each side of the walkway. If the weather gets cold and stays cold, maybe I will make my ice candles this year. Problem this year is that I cannot do the attic steps myself and will be at Joe and Nicks mercy as to when this gets done!! Hugs - Patti B. shellit74
I love xmas decor too. I too collect snowmen.. I have a great bay window to put them in, but Russell would destroy it before i could get it done so I need to find a place for it. If I left it up to the husband, nothing would ever get put up... hes kinda a scrooge, and I am NOT ALLOWED to do anything until after thanksgiving. I will though, have all the boxes out of the storage closet before then waiting to be brought up. I have this tiny little tree that Matt and I got 10 yrs ago, its time for a new one, or a real one this year. I am actually surprised that the tree lots havent sprung up yet. I am sure by next week there wil be one!
Ann
Yes, Katie. Let's all take pictures of candles in memory of our loved ones and send them in to Katie. I think a slideshow, featuring all of our candles would be the neatest thing to see!!! Count me in!!!
