dadstimeon
This will make you think! Charles Schultz Philosophy The following is the philosophy of Charles Schultz, the creator of the"Peanuts" comic strip. You don't have to actually answer the questions. Just read the e-mailstraight through, and you'll get the point. 1. Name the five wealthiest people in the world. 2. Name the last five Heisman trophy winners. 3. Name the last five winners of the Miss America contest. 4. Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer Prize. 5. Name the last half dozen Academy Award winner for best actor andactress. 6. Name the last decade's worth of World Series winners. How did you do? The point is, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday. These are no second-rate achievers. They are the best in their fields. But the applause dies. Awards tarnish. Achievements are forgotten. Accolades and certificates are buried with their owners. Here's another quiz. See how you do on this one: 1. List a few teachers who aided your journey through school. 2. Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time. 3. Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile. 4. Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated and special. 5. Think of five people you enjoy spending time with. 6. Name half a dozen heroes whose stories have inspired you. Easier?? The lesson: The people who make a difference in your life are not the ones with the most credentials, the most money, or the most awards. They are the ones that care. Pass this on to those people who have made a difference in your life if you want to. "Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia." If I could build a mountain, You call your very own, A place to find serenity, A place to be alone. If I could take your troubles, I would toss them in the sea, But all these things I’m finding, Are impossible for me. I cannot build a mountain, Or catch a rainbow fair, But let me be what I know best A friend that’s always there. Snowflake
Charlie Brown is my hero - patterned after the author's own life. Read somewhere that Schultz attempted to get a job with Walt Disney and was told his "talent" would never amount to anything... Hmmmm... ...I also remember that Schultz announced his retirement, had a few cartoons to publish and died the day the last "original" hit the papers. What an odd coincidence... Thanks for sharing! Debaroo
Wow, makes you think. Since I was a kid, I have always been a HUGE FAN of 2 people...#1. Jim Henson (creator of sesame street and the muppets) #2. Charles Schultz I cried when Jim Henson died and I cried when Charles Schultz died, I have never been one to cry openly when someone famous died-but these two special men were the acception-OH-make it 3 and add Mr. Rodgers to that list (whom I have grown to appreciate his gentle way with children-the way he treated them with dignity and respect as well as love and care. Something that I think these three amazing men did better than anyone else. Fine examples of humanity...if only the world could have been scripted by these men...'what a wonderful world this would be." Take care, Deb
Snowflake
Deb, Don't forget Fraggle Rock! Red Fraggle, the talking trash heap, the Do-zers (Do-zers do, Fraggles don't...) and the MOVIES - Dark Crystal, Labyrinth (I think)...and so many more... I think "A Charlie Brown Christmas" is one of the best Christmas shows, depicting human nature AND the human spirit. What a loss... We didn't watch Mr. Rogers, my mom liked Captain Kangaroo, so we watched pingpong balls and Mr. Green Jeans, not the Trolley and Neighborhood... I guess it used to be a kinder, gentler world...Progress??
