Question about scans...

My mother was diagnosed in October 2003 with limited SCLC. She started chemo on October 14th - carboplatin & etoposide, 3 days every 3 weeks. She had scans/mri done then to brain, abs, pelvis and chest. Well, she has had 3 rounds of chemo, next week will start 4th. She had scans done today and hopefully we will meet with the radiologist on Monday. My question is this... they did only abs, pelvis and chest today, why did they not do her brain again? Is this something that I should ask about on Monday @ her doctor's appointment? What are good questions to talk with the radiologist about at the first appointment? Thanks so much for any help you guys can give me.

My Dr. did the same thing. I had the full works at diagnosis and then it was just chest and abs after that. He said he will be doing the full works again in Jan.

Hi Paula,

Sorry to hear about your mom. The website (below) has a lot of good questions to ask your doctor. Don’t want to speculate on why only certain area, at certain times. Best to ask mom's doctor. Hope this helps. Peace, take care and God Bless.
