Hi Betty,

Bill has had chest/neck CT's and they did show bone mets. He had one of his shoulder about two plus years ago, and had radiation for it because it was causing pain.

Sometimes, it depends on how far apart the slices of scanning take place. There was a CT scan prior to the one that dound that met. It had not shown it. The later one did.

CT scans CAN show bone mets but if the docs want a really good picture of what is going on with a specific bone, they will order an MRI. I have a small rib met that sometimes shows on the CT scan, sometimes does not!!

So if you are having problems with a specific bone area, ask your onc for an MRI!!

Good luck with your scan - let us know the results!!
