shineladysue
Tomorrow, my mom will have her first CT scan since her surgery on Oct. 30th, 2008. My family and I would very much appreciate it if you would please keep her in your thoughts and prayers . She should get the results the next afternoon. I will post them then. She was diagnosed nearly two years ago with lung cancer and had surgery then . Last year, it was thought she had a recurrence, so the doctor removed the top part of the top lobe and felt that it was for the cure. The biopsy that time was benign and there we no other signs of cancer on the PET scans. We pray this has continued. Love, Sue

shineladysue
Mom met with the surgeon's associate and I will just say that the findings were inconclusive in that she didn't make things very clear. She said there was a bit of thickening in the area of where the incision was made in the lung and she wasn't worried about it. Nothing else showed up and she wants to rescan in 3 months. We aren't satisfied with that report and Mom is currently trying to get a copy of the report and hopefully someone else to read it. The overall visit with this particular doctor was a lot less than satisfactory... we are not happy with her. She was rude and totally unprofessional. We are hopeful that there really is nothing to worry about due to the fact that the biopsies taken during the surgery came back with all benign results. Worse come to worse, we have to wait the three months to see if things look different or the same. Guess too many of you know what that is like. Thank you all for being here for us. Sorry for the lousy update, but it's the one we have at the moment. Hugs, Sue
Patti B
Sue- Overall, the results seem to be pretty good. I am so happy and thankful for that!! The doctor sounds like a real jerk and I am wondering if maybe your mom should think about changing. I am sure YOU have thought about that, what's moms take on it. There is absolutely no reason for a doctor to be rude to any patient - no matter if they have cancer or just a hangnail. Or at least maybe someone needs to talk with her about her unprofessionalism. I have to tell you, I recently reamed my onc and he almost cried. Aparrently, he didn't realize how he was acting (or so he says) and has gone out of his way to be really nice to me since then. Am hoping you get some resolution of this ASAP. Let us know what happens!! Hugs - Patti B.
jaminkw
Lousy as her bedside manner is, let's hope she read the scan correctly because that would be GREAT NEWS! Tell your mom we are all hoping the next reader concurs with the first. Judy in Key West
Flyman35
I also say that it sounds pretty good. I hope you can get someone else to read them soon and like Judy said they concur. Keep us updated. Denise
Barb73
Sue, It does seem that the report is good. Having experienced lousy "bedside" manners from a doctor once during my husband's journey, we know how that feels. You have continued prayers that the scans in three months confirm a clean result. Hang in there, Sue. Barbara
Kasey
Geez, Sue, somehow this post just sailed right through and I never saw it. Sorry you had to join the 'bad bedside manner doc' club. There are WAY too many of us in it. Besides her unprofessionalism and rudeness, I'm not sure if she really had anything much to report. The rescan in 3 months sounds pretty much the norm to me. Of course that doesn't help the FEELINGS we all live with after hearing those words. I hope mom continues to improve and feel good and that 3 months down the road all your fears are put to rest with a good report. Love, Kasey
fillise
I hope you can get a second opinion on the report quickly. The news sounds good though, so I hope you get a confirmation on that. I know you don't want to worry for three months! Susan
ginnyde
Sue, I am always amazed at how 'unfeeling' doctors can be. Maybe it is the armor they wear to keep themselves from getting emotionally involved. BUT, patients and their families need to be treated honestly and careingly. I hope your Mother gets another read on the scan results and that it will mean she will have a worry free 3 months. Keep us posted.
