Allison
I know I haven't posted an update in a while. My Dad has been doing reasonably well since he was in the hospital last with the plueral effusion. He has been getting Navelbine every other week and daily Iressa. He breathing started to really deteriorate after Thanksgiving, and he got it into his head that it was spreading disease... so kind of kept things to himself. Last week things started to get *really* bad breathing wise, and we finally convinced him to go get a chest x-ray. Lo and behold, the cancer looked slightly "better" on the xray. Unfortunately his breathing got so bad this weekend that we was unable to get out of bed. He had a CT scan scheduled for this morning that my Mom wasn't able to get him to, so after consulting with the doctor this morning, he is off to the hospital again. His oncologist mentioned that it could be a side effect of the Navelbine which causes fluid to build up *inside* the lung tissue cells. Has anyone else had any experience with this and Navelbine? The few things I saw online made it sound pretty dire. Here's hoping this is something he'll be able to ride out, and we can start the New Year fresh with a different chemo drug! Allison ps: Thanks to Rick for posting the picture of me and my Dad at my MBA graduation in 2001. We aren't actually that grainy in real life, I am just not that good at digital pictures
Tiny
Allison- The picture of you and dad is really heartwarming. Thanks for posting an update. I'll be praying that your dad starts feeling better very soon and that the new year brings continued improvement. I regret that I can't speak to the Navelbine issue, but someone else will likely have information about it. Take care and blessings.
