LC Survivor "Don" on his cutting horse

Recommended Posts

Katie,

....here are 13 pictures of me riding a cutting horse. Not bad for SCLC survivor, artificial hips, brain radiation and all the other crap I had to take. Hope you enjoy the pictures.

WOW Don-

GREAT pics!!!!

I always wanted a horse when I was younger.......a 16 hand high black Arabian to boot!!! Couldn't understand why mom said we couldn't keep one in our small backyard!!!

How many horses do you have????

Keep up the good work!!!

Thanks Katie for posting this and thanks to you that have replied. It has taken 6 years to get back to this level of competing but after just one ride it was worth all the fight. I continue to break and train horses for people so we always have 5 to 15 here at any time. The only problem I really have is when returning to the herd for another cow I am short of breath but I try and relax and enjoy this time with the horse, me and a cow. I do take Sprivira everyday and it seems to help with my COPD. All I can tell anyone is to do what you enjoy for as long as you can and build all the memories for when you can't.

Don

PS I only look best at a distance Kasey.

I want to thank each of you for your support and having taken the time to look at the pictures but also making supporting comments. This week is a very special week for me because I have went pass my 7 year survival mark. It is still a stuggle getting over all of the meds and treatments but I will continue to fight and keep riding the horses. I achieved another goal of qualifying the palomino stallion shown in the pictures to go to the Eastern Nationals Championship in March 2010 in Jackson, Ms. It will not matter to me how high I place just knowing that I made it is a miracle. But who is kidding who, I WANT FIRST PLACE.

God Bless

Don

Hi Don,

I am on holiday just now,and I am enjoying surfing the boards, now that I have more time to relax.I have just "discovered"you, sorry I missed you first time round. You really are larger than life, having read your postings and viewing your pics.Well done on the medical front, you have my admiration on your fightback to health, after all you have been through.A real cowboy to boot also?thinks my only experience on a "horse" was a donkey ride on the beach when I was a kid.Hope you are still posting in, would love to hear more of your exciting lifestyle. How did your competition go?
