Songs From Your Past

Without a second thought....Our House....Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young

I'll light the fire

You put the flowers in the vase

That you bought today

Staring at the fire

For hours and hours

While I listen to you

Play your love songs

All night long for me

Only for me

Come to me now

And rest your head for just five minutes

Everything is good

Such a cosy room

The windows are illuminated

By the sunshine through them

Fiery gems for you

Only for you

Our house is a very, very fine house

With two cats in the yard

Life used to be so hard

Now everything is easy

'Cause of you

And our la,la,la, la,la, la, la, la, la, la, la.....

Our house is a very, very fine house

With two cats in the yard

Life used to be so hard

Now everything is easy

'Cause of you

And Our

I'll light the fire

And you place the flowers in the jar

That you bought today

Wow there are so many but I will choose the one song that takes me back 50 years. The song was not around then but the words describe what it was like falling in love with Johnny and those feelings that have never left.

The song is a country song by Rodney Crowel "After all this time"

There were trains and we outrun them

There were songs and we out sung them

There were brighter days unending

There was time and we were burning

There was rhymes and we were learing

There was all the love two hearts could hold

After all this time you're always on my mind

Hey I could never let it end 'cause my heart takes so long to mend

The dream that keeps the hope alive, the lonely nights I hold inside

After all this time you're always on my mind, I still want you

There was rain and we outlasted, there was pain and we got past it

There were last goodbys never spoken

There were ways I should have thrilled you

There were days I could have killed you

You're the only love my heart has known

After all this time you're always on my mind

Hey I could never let you go, A broken heart that mends so slow

Could never beat for someone new while your alive and I am too

And after all this time you're always on my mind

I still miss you, After all thes time you're always on my mind I still love you

Whe Johnny and I first found each other again this song was like the story of our love and sense he died nearly 7 years ago it still speaks the truth of a love that will never die

Maybe it doesn't sound like it is bringing happy memories but there is nothing like the majic of remembering those first special days with the one person who has defined your life.

More Than a Feeling - by Boston

When I was in college that was the song we played - as loud as possible - as we were getting ready to go out to the bars! It just brings back such a sense of freedom , youth and happiness when I hear it! And when it is on the radio I still hike the volume up as loud as it goes.

'La Vie en Rose' written and sung by Edith Piaf influenced everything good that followed in my life:

In the 6th grade I had to decide on taking French or Spanish the following year and I was going to choose Spanish because my mother had taken it and said it was easier. Then that weekend I saw 'Sabrina' with Audrey Hepburn. There's a scene where she's writing home from Paris and La Vie en Rose is playing in the background and I fell in love with the song, with Paris, with France... And so I took French in junior high.

And I loved French and majored in it in college and met this guy in my French poetry course and fell in love.

And so I chased him and he ignored me. Two months later I decided to give it one last try and went to a party I knew he'd be at. I got there before him and was dancing with some guy and La Vie en Rose was playing and my heartthrob arrived and walked right over and cut in ... that was Nov 2, 1962 and we're still married. :D:D:D

Of course La Vie en Rose was our first dance at our wedding.

Oh, also I came to love language in general because of French and wound up becoming a theoretical linguist and had an extraordinarily satisfying career as such. So that song wound up determining my personal life and my professional life, sort of.

More than you ever wanted to know... Sorry.

Came out in 1970 , the year Mike and I were married... I will always think of him when I think of this song.

Carpenters

We've Only Just Begun

Paul Williams and Roger Nichols

We've only just begun to live,

White lace and promises

A kiss for luck and we're on our way.

And yes, We've just begun.

Before the rising sun we fly,

So many roads to choose

We start our walking and learn to run.

And yes, We've just begun.

Sharing horizons that are new to us,

Watching the signs along the way,

Talking it over just the two of us,

Working together day to day

Together.

And when the evening comes we smile,

So much of life ahead

We'll find a place where there's room to grow,

And yes, We've just begun.
