SandraL
Hi Susan. I am sorry to hear of the latest with your dear mom. I had a pleural effusion at diagnosis and was very nervous about the procedure. In hindsight it really wasn't that bad compared to other things I have gone through. It was done under local anesthetic and was not painful. After the draining is done you just need to be careful to keep the site dry. Best wishes for your mom Sandra
RandyW
I have experience with those. Deb had one done and it was a Easy breezy procedure. Spent a day or two in hospital for draining and was back on feet in no time !!!
fillise
Thanks everyone--y'all are the best! Mom will have the effusion drained on Tuesday. I have used your experiences to tell her it isn't so bad and she should feel better once it is over. I'll let you know how it goes.
