We saw the Onc today. Onc asks Tom "So how are you feeling." Tom says "I feel great." I say, "you're a** you feel great. Except when you're hacking up a lung every time you're on you're feet or lying down."

They gave me a funny look. I said, "What? It's the truth."

They drew blood and all his numbers are perfect. They ordered the next CT which will be on 8/3. Tom has been complaing of shoulder and upper arm pain for the last couple of months so he will have an MRI of his shoulder the same day. The Onc said that since he has had the pain since before the PET was done in May then it would have show on the PET if it was cancer. He said a bone scan will only tell that it's not cancer but it won't tell you what it is. So if it's something like a torn muscle or rotater it will show that on an MRI.

If this scan comes up clean Tom will graduate to every 6 month scans. That sure would be a nice way to celebrate his 18 month survival mark. :D

So we wait until the 3rd.

WOOHOOOO And a cortisone shot might help the shoulder!!! Thats what Deb did. she had arthritis build up in her shoulder. Seems to be a common thing I think .

Tom sounds so much like my husband. He too always tells the doc he's fine when it's obvious he isn't. Good luck and I hope we hear good news very soon!

Denise, overall it sounds like Tom got a good report! :D I still get upper arm and shoulder pain sometimes. At Christmas time it hurt so bad I could barely move my arm. I thought for sure my cancer was back but my ct scan came back clean. So who knows.Maybe its arthitis or something. Anyway Im happy for your good news.

Denise, yahoooo for Tom. The last time I went to see the onc, my husband said "now don't you go in there all bubbly telling her everything is fine." A retired onc finally convinced me the low back pain I've had for years before cancer wasn't mets to the spine either. He said "Judy, how many years have you had it? Thirty or more? Cancer doesn't act like that." Duh. Here's hoping it's old age Tom, we could all of us survivors hope for old age, don't ya think? Holding happy thoughts for a clear scan. 6 month check-ups, wow. Way to go.

It sounds like good results in spite of Tom not feeling great. Only here can we get excited about not feeling well. Good luck on the scan results!

Denise - Tom sounds like every man I have ever known - father, husband, friends - gotta be tough! Geez! Good thing they have women to tell the truth huh.

I can tell you that for the last year or so I have had shoulder pain - it waxes and wanes - apparently it is part and parcel of aging & I'll take it (better than cancer). I honestly am starting to wonder if caffeine is making it worse. I guess the only way to find out is to kick the coffee and see if it gets better ... I sure do love my coffee though :) !

Sending you both positive thoughts and many prayers for good scan on the 3rd! I feel a graduation celebration coming up soon!!!!

Take care,

Linda

We received the results of the shoulder MRI and it appears that Tom tore something. The PCP is sending him to an othopaedic specialist. Tom says, "Great, another specialist." I say, "WOO HOO, IT'S NOT CANCER!!!!"

We'll get the lung CT results tomorrow.
