michellep Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 I've always believed in my heart that things happen for a reason in our lives. We may not always have the answers as to "why" but the "Man Above" is the only one who truly knows. Someone recently entered my life and I wanted to share this with you because I think this new friend was sent to me for a reason. Perhaps to give me strength? One day a few months ago while at the grocery store there was a woman who for some unknown reason stood out to me. It was odd because normally I go about my business and never really notice others. Anyway, I don't remember what I said to her to begin the conversation (probably something about the fruits), but as we talked she told me that her husband was recently diagnosed with bladder cancer. We continued to talk and turned out they shared the same urologist as well as oncologist. There was something about her that drew me to her....I couldn't explain it. We exchanged phone numbers and I called her a few days later. We now talk each and everyday on the phone and during these conversations we learned that we not only lived in the same town 25 years ago (which is hundreds of miles from here) we worked at the same place at the same time! Since I met this woman she has been a gift from God and I'm so very thankful. When you try to tell friends who haven't lived the life of cancer they never totally understand. But this new friend of mine understands everything that I'm dealing with and feeling. I think she is a "Gift from God" and I am so very thankful! Quote
Kasey Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 And I, too, believe she is a true gift, Michelle. Since I have been on the cancer journey there have been more than a few 'instances' and 'people' that I can only chalk up to some kind of divine intervention. And FYI. a very dear friend of ours just had his bladder removed. Hopefully all is okay with him. He is still in the hospital. So you can share with your friend the name of Chuck. He and his wife are walking the exact same walk as she is. Thoughts are with you, dear. Kasey Quote
jaminkw Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 Michelle, if anyone ever deserved such a "gift," it is you. I can imagine how important those daily talks have become. Judy in Key West Quote
