Welllll, Mom got a bit of a dry run today. The equipment misbehaved and kept quitting. They had just had someone in to upgrade the computer yesterday and had problems today. They said mom was doing perfectly and that the fiducials are lined up perfect, but the computer needs fixing.. :( Last we heard, about an hour ago , it's still not fixed. Mom has to get all dressed and be sitting on ready in the am. She sure has had to do everything the hard way, bless her heart. She's such a trooper and no one could have a better attitude, but this is getting hard for her. Will let you guys know what happens. Thanks for your support and please keep those positive vibes and prayers coming.

Love,

Sue

NOV. 4th... Today is mom's 4th Ck treatment. She is having it as I write. Tomorrow will be the last one and it can't come soon enough. This has really NOT been a "piece of cake" for her. She is feeling rather weak and shaky . I'm sure her age (nearly 81) has a lot to do with it , but it has been a rough time. She can't wait for it to be over so she can just stay home and rest up for a while.

I'll post again when she is done and let you know what is next.. Thank you to all of you who have been supporting her with your well wishes and prayers, here and on Facebook.

Hugs,

Sue

Sue, I'm sorry this has been so tough for your Mom. That's why you can't compare treatments from person to person. One person's piece of cake can be another's pound of poison. Give her my best wishes for taking on this challenge.

Sue,

Sorry your mom is sore. Joel only had 3 tretments not sure how many hours. But he took himself and came home, with absolutely no after effects, just some tireness.

Maybe she got more radiation then he had. And she went more days.

But Iam glad it is over. How is she feeling now?

Tell her we are thinking for her.

NOVEMBER 5TH-FINAL DAY!!!

Hello all,

Today was mom's final day of treatment and she is so so so glad to have this part done. It has really, really worn her out. At present, she is just extremely fatigued and has a slight cough. Each day she would also leave with a horrible headache too, but I think it's because of the way she was laying. As for fatigue and cough, both are normal side effects. She now looks forward to time to REST. A follow up scan will be done in 4 weeks and she will meet with the doctor following to get results. I will be sure to update you then.

Maryanne, thank you so much for all your input on behalf of Joel. It was Joel's success , encouragement and personal interest in her that really gave her the courage to do this. We can't really compare cases, as with anything else . Mom had a larger tumor than Joel and had 5 days of treatment with about 3 1/2 hrs on the table each time. Actually, it was 6 days, because she started it the first day and the machine quit working.. so she had 5 full treatments and one partial one. She would arrive there at 8:30 am and get home between 12:30 and 1:00pm. Also, we have to factor in that mom will be 81 years old next month... has COPD, is on oxygen and has a few other health problems... With all that taken into consideration, I think she deserves a medal.. my mom is AWESOME...

Thanks to all who have been out there giving her support. It means so very much. We will keep you updated... Love you guys. '

Love,

Sue
