WASHINGTON, Nov. 9 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Lung Cancer Alliance (LCA) announced that LCA staff, advocates and friends will ring The Closing Bell for the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) tomorrow afternoon at 4 pm ET.

Five and a half year lung cancer survivor and LCA-NY advocate, Richard Heimler will mark the end of the day's trading by ringing The Closing Bell.

He will be joined by LCA Staffers Sheila Ross and Miguel Velez and lung cancer survivors, advocates and LCA supporters in the televised ceremony.

"As a lung cancer survivor and on behalf of Lung Cancer Alliance and all those impacted by the disease, we are grateful to the New York Stock Exchange for this opportunity to get our message out during November, Lung Cancer Awareness Month," said Heimler.

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death nationwide, taking more lives each year than the next four biggest cancers -- breast, prostate, colon and pancreatic -- combined. Two out of three people being diagnosed with lung cancer have never smoked or had already quit smoking, often decades ago.

Lung Cancer Alliance, www.lungcanceralliance.org, is the only national non-profit organization dedicated solely to providing patient support and advocacy for people living with or at risk for the disease. Our mission is clear: leading the movement to reverse decades of stigma and neglect by empowering patients, elevating awareness and changing health policy.
