stadie
HI ALL I AM A 55 YR OLD FEMALE WHO WAS DIAGNOSED ON JAN31 09 I HAD A 5 CM TUMOR IN MY UPPER LEFT LOBE JUST INSIDE THE BRONCHI DID NOT SHOW UP ON XRAY OR CT SCAN. THE BRONCOSCOPY FOUND IT. IF NOT FOR COUGHING UP BLOOD I WOULD HAVE NEVER KNOWN. 3 ROUNDS OF CHEMO AND RADS EVERYDAY FOR 5 MO. I WAS CANCER FREE ACCORDING TO ALL THAT KNOW WHATS UP. THEY WANTED TO DO A LOBECTOMY JUST TO BE SURE. BUT MY BODY DID NOT TOLERATE THE SURGERY AND I ALMOST CROSSED OVER FROM THE CURE. AT ANY RATE IT HAS BEEN 8 MO. SINCE THE CUTTING AND I AM STILL IN PAIN BAD. LEFT BACK, ARMPIT,AND BREAST. I DID NOT FEEL THIS BAD WITH THE TUMOR. I AM STILL COUGHING UP A LOT OF PLEGHM BUT IT TASTES LIKE MOLD. MY DOC,S ALL 4 HAVE NO ANSWERS FOR ME. MAYBE THOSE OF YOU OUT THERE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AND SMARTER DOCS. ANY ANSWER WILL BE BETTER THAN WHAT I AM GETTING FROM MY MED. jaminkw
Stadie, what you are going thru is just awful. I don't have anything specific to offer except empathy. There was a time when I felt SO MUCH WORSE in treatment than I ever did before my dx. I had no symptoms to speak of. I hope someone will surgical experience will come in to offer more. stadie
THANKS FOR THE EMPATHY AFTER I REREAD MY TOPIC I SOUNDED LIKE I WAS NOT HAPPY TO BE CANCER FREE. I AM THRILLED WITH THAT. JUST NOT THE AFTER EFFECTS OF A FAILED SURGERY SO I GUESS I AM JUST A LITTLE SCARED SINCE I STILL HAVE THE LOBE IT COULD COME BACK. THANKS FOR HAVING A PLACE TO VENT
jaminkw
No, didn't get the idea at all that you weren't glad to be cancer free. You're hurting and it's frustrating that you feel worse than you did before the dx. I complained about that for quite awhile. It's natural and normal. Take care. Ry
You might want to ask that they do a check of the phlegm and make sure it isn't mold. There are molds such as aspergillis that can infect the lungs. I hope you feel better soon.
