recce101
I've been receiving PMs about the Pacific-wide tsunami generated near Chile and questions as to whether we're okay. Yes, we're fine, and we've been following the Civil Defense and Tsunami Warning Center reports since early this morning. Actually the disturbance won't be arriving here for another 4 hours, and besides, we live in the central part of Oahu at a nice safe elevation. There is expected to be some property damage near the shoreline, but with the ample notification we've had, tourists included, there really should be no loss of life. But how about the West Coast? Any problems there yet? Ned

jaminkw
Ned, came onsite with the express purpose of checking to see how you all were in Hawaii. Glad you posted and that you are not in harms way. I'll check in again tomorrow. Judy
recce101
Turned out to be rather mild, though you could definitely see the odd-looking draining of water from the reefs, then filling back in, repeatedly just a few minutes apart. Don't think the surges were enough to cause any damage. Ned
jaminkw
Glad to hear it Ned. It's like waiting out hurricane warnings in Key West. You can't really rest until it's over. Judy
