carlton
Hi All- Just a question-- How many of you are on oxygen at nite only? How was it decided that you need to have oxygen at nite? Thanks Carlton
beckyg
For me it has been always about how I feel. I started on oxygen 24/7 back in July when the radiation pneumonitis hit me hard. Then after a month I was totally off oxygen and stayed that way for several months. In October I developed a particularly nasty cough and discovered that if I slept with oxygen, I coughed less at night and therefore slept better. I don't like sleeping with it because it dries my nose out so much, but when it helps, it helps. Becky
bobmc
Hi Calton; Hope all is well, Regarding the ox, it was'nt that it was prescribed only at night for me, because I was told to use it any time I felt I needed it. But , It was suggested to use it at night because the body breaths differently while sleeping and uses / gets lets ox. In my case they removed my left lung and I was told to use the ox. at night because it would help allow the body to heal makes alot of sense to me, hope this helps. God bless Bobmc- NSCLC- stageIIB- left pneumonectomy- 5/2/01 MRI's taken 12/18/03 - 2 brain mets found- named em Frick & Frack PET taken 1/5 - hot spot in mediastinum May be cancer?? Terrie
I, too, was on oxygen at night after being on it daily following my pneumonectomy. I believe the reasoning was the same as what Bob stated - I was told it was not unusual.
kimblanchard
Hi Carlton, Bill has been on oxygen at night since August. A test was done to measure his levels so that our insurance would pay for it. It has been a blessing to help him sleep at night and he has not needed it during the day. Blessings to you, Peg
Fay A.
Becky, does your oxygen concentrator have a humidifier attachement? You fill it with distilled water and it really helps stop the dry nasal passages. I use oxygen at night when I need it. Lately I seem to be needing it more often.
