B-1 83 Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 with stage IV adenocarcinoma and mets to the skull, ribs, sternum, femur, spine, hips, and humerous. 8 rounds (yes, e-i-g-h-t) of carboplatin/taxotere and 14 doses of full brain radiation (for leptomeningeal carcinomatosis) later, she's still alive. Tarceva was started in May, and it's kicking cancer's butt, even if she is not EGFR positive. SHE STARTS ANOTHER YEAR OF TEACHING 5TH GRADE SCIENCE NEXT MONDAY. Thanks to God, Dr. Fosella, and M.D. Anderson she's still slugging it out. Quote
Muriel Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 I am so happy for both of you! Hope she has a wonderful year teaching. Muriel Quote
Janet B Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 So happy that things are going so well!!! Prayers that the Tarceva will keep kicking the cancer's butt for a long long time and your wife has many more years of teaching!! (Although teaching 5th grade science sounds like torture to me!!) She will be in my prayers! peace - janet Quote
ts Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 Please convey my delight to teacher warrior. I am so happy to hear that Tarceva will allow her to keep educating. Someone has to do it! Quote
recce101 Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 I've been following your posts at GRACE. Congratulations to Teacher Wife on her "anniversary" — and I'll be looking for a similar announcement this time next year! Don't worry, this annual event will not crowd out any of your other yearly celebrations, just make them more meaningful. Best wishes and Aloha, Ned Quote
