ts
I had the pleasure of his company once a week for almost a year, as we discussed living with cancer. RIP - from a Facebook posting: In 2008, longtime Seattle resident Raphael Dovid Hyman, then 54, was diagnosed with Stage IV lung cancer. At that time, he was in excellent physical health, had never smoked and exercised regularly. At the time of diagnosis, the cancer had already spread to his bones, precluding surgery as an option. Raphael Dovid and his wife Ruth spent two and half years pursuing multiple treatment protocols and while some showed promising results, ultimately the cancer continued to spread. He was niftar (deceased) on 21 Adar (March 27th, 2011). To honor his name and as a zchus (merit) for ilui neshama (elevation of his soul), please contribute to The Raphael Dovid Girls Seminary Scholarship Fund. This fund has been established to help assist Seattle post-high school girls who wish to attend seminary programs in Eretz Yisroel (Israel) and the U.S. and for whom, without these scholarships, furthering their Jewish education would be impossible. The Hymans have been zoche (merited) to send their three daughters to seminaries and would very much like to help other girls have the same opportunity.
