Joppette
Okey dokey, it's 12:45 and no AIR yet! It's 60, gloomy and cloudy today. Temps are going to drop quite quickly in the next few days. Sad day today. Two idiots robbed a bank with military type guns, and took off on a major highway. There were 20 police cars chasing them, and they ran over one of the cops and killed him. Needless to say, they are not alive now, and the highway is closed for an indefinite amount of time. Sooooooo sad. Tragic. I was supposed to take that highway on my way to Gilda's Club, but heard about the robbery and changed my plans. The crash happened two exits down from mine, so I'm glad I back roaded it. Today is a weird Gilda day. I am in Grand Rapids for 3 hours, and then I head over to the Lowell club for a board meeting. So I'm skipping group tonight because I'm not going to drive all the way back the G.R. for that. Slept like a rock last night! It felt so good. My allergies are abating and it is heaven to not be constantly blowing my nose and dealing with the malaise of it all. Hope you all have a great day! dianew
I'm here - although I thought yesterday was Thursday and today was Friday, so was bummed when I got up today and found out it's NOT Friday. A good friend is having pretty major surgery today, so I'm waiting for her son to call with her room number so I can go sit with her awhile. I'm sure all the HIPPA stuff is good overall, but sometimes very irritating. JudyMI, sorry to hear about the tragedy in your area - doesn't it seem like this sort of thing is increasing - or is it just me? Am glad your allergies are better but I think they just moved to Oregon! I have so much stuff I'm supposed to be doing, but just haven't been able to get motivated this week at all. So of course it's all sitting here looking at me, which makes me feel really guilty -- but apparently not quite guilty enough. I have two new people I'm drivng to treatment, and that's always nice. A nurse once told me that only the nicest people get cancer, and while I'm sure that's a bit of an exaggeration, I've met so many great people doing this that I tend to agree with her. It's also sad how many people just don't really have anyone - at least not anyone close. It reminds me how lucky I am. Hope everyone is having a great day. ts
Diane - that's so remarkable that you drive people to treatment. I see those signs and there is no way I want to be in those buildings any more than I already am. Judy - I think I found your allergies. Not sure what is up, but yesterday was embarrassing with how much I was producing and how many Kleenexes I went through. Now my throat is sore. I know, Netti pot or saline solution. I've been gargling with salt water. I hope there isn't something in our new insulation that is setting me off. That would be a real bummer. Sunny out there, group to attend. Joppette
Diane, I think it's awesome that you drive people to treatment. Paying it forward is so rewarding! Sorry about the allergies out West for both of you. I think the really cold nights are what is helping me. I'm so grateful. Well, to continue the tragedy story with the police officer. A woman volunteer (bone cancer survivor) was supposed to come in with friends to cook supper at Gilda's. We got a call that her friend would be delivering the food, but none of them would be in because the woman volunteer just found out that her police officer husband was the one that got killed today!!!!! All her friends were too upset to come in either. In addition, when her friend delivered the food, she told us that this woman just got the news today at 9:30 that her bone cancer was back and spread to her brain!!!!! Wow. I can't even begin to comprehend how she can cope. She has 2 children, 6 and 8 years old. Sad. Sad. Sad. MI Judy

Treasure each and every day, each and every friend and your family, hold them close.
dianew
I can't even imagine and there are no words to describe how tragic this is. I will keep them in my prayers.
