Under the agreement those seeking lung cancer-specific support from LIVESTRONG will be directed to LUNGevity Foundation as a resource. LUNGevity will also refer patients who would benefit from the organization’s resources to the Lance Armstrong Foundation, and will list the Foundation as a resource on their Caregiver Resource Center. The agreement reflects both organizations’ spirit of cooperation in best helping cancer survivors. LIVESTRONG recognizes LUNGevity’s unique role in the lung cancer community as a premiere resource, and LUNGevity is pleased to be able to reach even more people impacted by the disease through LIVESTRONG, and direct individuals seeking relevant help to the Lance Armstrong Foundation. Founded in 2001, LUNGevity funds research for the earlier detection and more effective treatment of lung cancer. The Foundation also creates community and connects people affected by lung cancer with other patients/survivors, caregivers and medical experts to get the information and support they need, as well as offering information and referrals to other organizations. Resources LUNGevity provides include the largest lung cancer-specific online support community; LifeLine, a telephone/email buddy program; the Caregiver Resource Center; an extensive online blog; Ask the Experts, providing experts at visitors fingertips; a clinical trials matching service; and LUNGevity LinkUP for those interested in becoming advocates.
