KatieB
Hey guys, it's Alison again. I don't have many details now, but here's what I know:Yesterday she had multiple strokes and is now unable to talk and move. Our family is making plans for her to move to hospice. I am heading up to Michigan from Ohio today. We really appreciate all of your prayers and support. Two days ago, she asked me to share this video with you. I've been unable to watch it yet, but she wants us all to hear her story: http://tv.wegohealth.com/channels/lung- ... ing-advice
KatieB
I have been partnering with WEGO Health on these lung cancer panels and Susan told me how nervous she was and how she felt like throwing up but she wanted everyone to hear her story. I'm so proud of her for stepping outside of her comfort zone and sharing her story. I'm so heartbroken over this latest news. I'm still keeping her in my thoughts and prayers. dianew
I am so sad to hear this latest news. Susan is, and has been since the day she joined, much wiser and braver than she gave herself credit for. Her presence on the board is sorely missed. My prayers and thoughts with Susan and her family. shineladysue
Katie, thank you for keeping us up to date on Susan. I read this on facebook earlier and it really hit hard. Susan is such a fighter , an inspiration and a wonderful person. She has shared so much of herself with us all on this site and I pray that somehow , someway she will be back here sharing again soon. The video of her is like a gift to us all.. what a wonderful human being she is.. God Bless her and her family. They remain in my prayers. lovelife
Hi Everyone, I have been checking up on Susan on this site as well as on facebook. I feel so terrible for her and her family. I have become very close to Susan over the past few months or so, we would email a lot. We exchanged pictures and got to know one another. She has such a hug heart and was so comforting. She emailed me the day she was put in the hospital, and she was answering questions from our previous conversation. She truly touched my heart, there she is, in the hospital not knowing what is going on with herself, but she is going out of her way to reach out to me. I never experienced anything like that....We have never met but I feel like we have b/c of our long conversations. She is such an inspiration, she is truly one of a kind. I look up to her and hope I can be as strong as she is for my own mother. Praying for susan and her family, they are always in my thoughts!! Sending Susan a huge hug!! KatieB
Susan is now at a hospice in Charlotte, MI. She is unable to move or speak. Thanks for all your support everyone; it has really meant a lot to us and her. She talked about you guys a lot; you all mean so much to her and made this journey a little more bearable. She told me last weekend that she thought having lung cancer made her a better person, because it made her more compassionate. thank you for being a part of that. -Alison Please continue to keep Susan and her family in your prayers. dianew
I am so sad to hear this news. In such a short time Susan had become such a presence here and offered so much of herself to all of us. I didn't think I could hate this disease any more, but I do. I really miss her. My sincere condolences and prayers for her family.

KatieB
Oh she LOVED LCSC. I hear sometimes from members who have been here for many years say LCSC isn't what it used to be, and they are right. We have facebook and in person groups and offline resources now but what they may not know is that every post here is golden and hundreds of people read them. Susan was one of them. Una very short time she gained strength and friendships and stepped up to go e back to others. She knew that while she may have 2-3 replies on a post that 300+ people were reading it and that inspired her to want to do more. She told me last week that she wanted the LCSC members to reach out to the new members and support them and do for them what we dis for her. She worried about Laurie too. A young lady who read but didn't post but had been messaging her offline. She wanted me to make sure Laurie reached out to us and we all supported each other. Reach out to each other LCSC family old and new....keep POSTING and step up the way Susan did. Things change, people we love move on in life or into eternity but those of us left here (.who choose to be here) can make LCSC a haven and warm place for each other and everyone who reads these boards. Bless all of you. We are all grieving today. Sent from my HTC VLE_U using Tapatalk

eric byrne
Hi Everyone, What a weekend, double whammie as we say here, first Susan,I just cannot believe it,I am so sad to hear of her untimely passing, too quick for me to take in.Then my young sister Linda she collapsed last week at home after vomitting up 3 pints of blood, she was rushed to Monklands Hospital ICU for emergency surgery, she has ruptured blood vessels around her liver, she responded well to treatment,Friday evening visiting, she was back to her old perky, happy self, then in the early hours of Saturday morning she vomitted again and all the progress she had made was undone, doctors and nurses fought for hours pumping blood into her as quickely as she was losing it,she had 12 units transfused into her by the time I arrived at the hospital,we did,nt get in to see her,we had to wait outside in the hospital corridor as we watched a guy passing us frequently with a shoulder bag marked human blood, she had many more "blood products",the doctors were trying to stop the bleeding to allow for her transfer to a specialist liver unit in Edinburgh,a special "shock team" arrived from Edinburgh to supervise her transfer,I got in briefly to see just to hold her hand and say a few words to her unconscious body lying in the bed whilst nurses were on the other side working on the blood lines, the scene was so sad.We were asked then by the doctor to leave as the shock team were wanting to work on her for the transfer to Edinburgh. We were not allowed a visit today, but I am told she is still critical but stable,I will let you know of any developments. My sincere condolences to all of Susans family and friends,I will miss her posts here so much.Bye for now.
dianew
Oh Eric I'm so sorry to hear about your sister. It sounds as though she is getting good care in Edinburgh and being stable is a good sign. I will keep her in my prayers. Diane

lilystemp
There are times when it just gets harder and harder to come here. First the news about Sue and now Eric's sister and then there is Sara. I came her searching for news on her. I guess I will keep looking and praying. So much sadness. Eric my heart goes out to you and your family. please keep us updated as you can.
Joppette
I don't get to get on here and post much anymore, but I have followed many here. It's with a broken heart that I read about Susan. She wrote to me privately a couple of times before she got so very sick. We only lived a couple of hours from each other but never got to meet. My prayers and tears go out to her family as they go through this time of grieving. *sigh* Judy
Joppette
Eric, you too. You've been so good at popping in and saying hello to me! I pray that they find out what is going on with your sister and that she is not suffering. Hugs. Judy
md6183
I am truly shocked and deeply saddened to read this morning about Susan's passing. Susan and my wife the patient/fighter are the same age, and Susan was diagnosed one year to the day earlier than my wife with the same dx. I can reflect upon Susan's journey for inspiration and motivation, and found her online spirit as one that kept my hope "muscle" strong (this is one of Susan's blog post phrases). May God bless her family and all of her online and on-ground friends. Gosh this is hard, I don't know how all of you long-timers do this.... Eric, sending prayers for your sister Linda. May God keep watch over her.
