bluebayou
First off..can I just say how heartwarming it is getting back here and finding that you've been missed!! Thank so very much for your concerns and your request for updates. Here goes: I was going along my merry way (well maybe not so merry) when last Saturday afternoon Gilles could not get any reaction out of me. Couldn't wake me up at all....nor could my daughter..best they could get out of me is a raggedy ann imitation with eyes mostly rolling around in my head. Was brought to ICU severely dehydrated..very low WBC 0.3 as apposed to 5.8 yesterday. High fever and all veins having shut down. My oncologist who came by same day was very sympathetic and told me that I had come within minutes of losing my life *sigh*. The next 5 days were taken up with re-establishing vital signs and getting me back on the road. Was well enough come Thursday for my radiotactic surgery (which by the way was NO walk in the park).. Got thru that without complications and made my way home (but not before massive intake of potassium/magnesium/antibiotics etc). I'm shaken up and still haven't totally absorbed this near miss and am in need of loads of rest but heh...worst is over for now guys!!! You have all been sooooooooooo great..ur the first thing i ran home to. I rise and set along with your board, i just don't know what I would do without you. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart most especially to those who grew concerned and voiced it. You know who ur ) Ta Ta for Now, Francine
DeanCarl
Jeeezzz Francine!!!! Don't DO that! I had a similar experience with my wife a few months ago (accidental lithium overdose). Scared me half to death! I am very, VERY glad they got to you in time and all is as well as it can be now. Welcome back! And stick around this time, ok? norme
Ok Francine, put the doll away and lets get back to business. I shutter to think what could have happened because of dehydration. I sure hope you are caring a bottle around with you now. So very glad you are coming back onboard. You said the RFA was rough? I can't believe they went ahead right away with it in your state but I guess it was much needed and they didn't want to wait nor probably you to. Glad you are back, now get some rest. Don Wood
Francine -- scary! You sure had a guardian angel watching over you. So glad you had a "near miss" and not a "miss"/ Lucie has had two of those -- once in Dec. 2002 with systemic septic shock, and once last Aug. with bilateral pneumonia. I told her, instead of dodging these bullets, how about getting out of the line of fire? So glad things are better and you are back with us. Wonderful to see your smiling face again. Snowflake
Holy pisser, Francine! Glad you are still around and that you have that other "Big Thing" behind you, too. Hey, at least you didn't have to "fast" at home where there's tater chips and cookies calling your name at all hours (and why DO they call that a "fast" when it goes so darn slow??)! Happy to see your face again! Try to be a little more attentive to your virtual friends and not take off for so darn long! (AS IF you had much of a choice in your Raggedy Ann condition...) gerbil runner
Yikes! Glad you made it out ok! My mom had a similar (though not so close-call) experience at Christmas. She rebounded very quickly once she was properly rehydrated and diarrhea stopped, and is doing GREAT. Hopefully you'll regain strength just as fast. shirleyb
Girl, I am glad you are back and that everything was able to be done to get your smiling face back here. You really know how to shake people up. Take care of yourself hon, and please give your hubby and daughter a great big thank you hug from all of us. They had to have been scared out of their wits. Don't be doing that to them no more okay. Wishing you the best. Shirley
ginnyde
Dear Francine, I am soooo glad this problem was caught in time. Now your family knows what to look out for - the Raggedy Ann look. I think we should all let our families know how to get on here and post when one of our dear members is not going to be posting for awhile. We really do worry. Get better quickly.
