I'm Dawn's oldest daughter Erin. I just wanted to make a more personal post here on the forum instead just a brief statement on Facebook. This community was such an important part of her life following her diagnosis in 2008 that I feel you deserve more than just finding out about her passing o. Facebook.

Her passing wasn't unexpected for us, but her rapid decline was. The sat before thanksgiving my fiance came home from work and as he normally did when she wasn't doing particularly well checked in on her. For a few days before that she had started having mobility issues and trouble standing from a sitting position. She also had developed a pretty bad infection in her lungs, so we made the decision to go to the E.R. they admitted her because her blood pressure was super low. So they gave her a ton of broad spectrum anti biotics and fluids as well as getting her blood pressure under control. She improved pretty quickly. We talking with the palliative care team about her coming home and having a nurse that came to help her with daily tasks and what sort of medical supplies she would need at home. This was on Tues the 25th. She was admitided to the pallative care unit first because they wanted to monitor her oxygen usage. She was doing good wensday and on thanksgiving she started fading fast. She passed on Monday Dec. 1st at 2:25p.m.

I don't know if she had shared with you all here about her latest diagnosis in October of adano(I think that's it) catcinoma and that due to the fact that she had it in mamy spots they couldn't cut it out and because she was losing weight she wasn't a good canadiate for chemo and this particular cancer doesn't respond well to chemo. This is what her doctor told us. So, we knew her passing was coming we just had no idea it would be so soon.

Honestly though I miss her more than I know how to say, I'm relieved she doesn't have to struggle and fight any more and that she isn't in pain.

I'm also happy she had this community toncome to for support. That she had friends here that knew and understood her journey. Thank you for being their for my mom.

I don't know yet when her service will be, it won't be a big fancy affair anyhow. I'd like to request tho that instead of flower donations be made in her name to a charity that supports lung cancer research.

I am so sorry for your loss.  I am a survivor but I also lost my husband to lung cancer just last year.

It is very painful.  Please take care, she would want that.

I responded to this on facebook , but I wanted to post here too. I just want to say how very sorry I am for your loss. Dawn will be missed.  She was such a fighter and always tried to remain upbeat and cheerful.  She was a real inspiration to many as she showed so much courage throughout her battle. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.
