bluebayou
Wanted to thank all of you who responded with much affection to my previous update e-mail. I KNOW I wouldn't be going thru this with as much faith, hope and even (for the most part) ease as I am with your support. From the bottom of my heart...THANK YOU Now I must admit to being more apprehensive as I go into my second chemo on Tuesday. See the doctor on Monday...having some blood work done and then sit down with him to discuss in more depth what happened to me and why. I do know that he is considering a new dose of taxotere. We might stay with both cisplatin and taxotere but with reduction in the second. He said that the taxotere was the culprit. And I thought it was a virus... As you can see we have some explaining to do. As I mentioned, i now go forward with more apprehension that before but I'm sure in time that will dispel. Will update you all mid-week or so. Till then, my thoughts and prayers are with each and every one of us. God Bless Us All!! Love Francine

karen335
Hi Francine, Glad to hear that you are doing better and are on the mend. You really had us worried there for a while. My onc. wanted to put me on Taxotere after I finished the Taxol/carboplatin. So I did a bit of research. I found out that recommended dosage is 60-100mg. In speaking to several doctors, they recommend 75mg. Otherwise you can end up possibly with and overdose and there is no antidote to remove the toxicity. Please go to Taxotere.com and read all about this chemo. Maybe you are alergic to this chemo. Then you might want to ask your doctor how many mg you are receiving. If it were me, I would not want them to administer more than the 75mg. We don't know how our bodies will respond to these chemo's. I know if my onc. suggested Taxotere, this is what I would allow. Please read the side effects of the Taxotere overdose and etc... Hope this helps. Here's praying for good results for you. God Bless and gentle hugs... Joe B
Fracine, I just had my second dose of Taxotere today...... On my first round my wbc's dropped to .6. I am now starting Neupogen right away with this dose, and hopefully that takes care of that issue. I did both Cisplatin and Etoposide just prio to the taxotere while going thru radiation... its a doosy. I will be praying for you, just insist on keeping a very close eye on your blood counts. -Cheryl-
Francine, You certainly have every reason in the world to be apprehensive! You call the doctor over anything that feels abnormal to you!
