john
ST. JOHN'S WORT MAY COMBAT CANCER St. John's wort (Hypericum perforatum), an herb best known as a natural remedy for mild to moderate depression, may prove to be an aid to cancer treatment, too. Research from Germany suggests that hyperforin, a natural antibiotic that is one of the components of St. John's wort, stops the proliferation of both human and rat cancer cells. The hyperforin appeared to work both in the laboratory and when rats injected with rat breast cancer cells were treated with it. While these results are promising, the researchers said that further study will be necessary to demonstrate St. John's wort's potential for cancer treatment. Results were reported in the March 19, 2002 issue of the journal Oncogene. NEW UPDATE!!!! St Johns Wort may interfere with CPT-
