husband home with hospice

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

My husband is at home with hospice care now.  He's hanging in there, happy to be here at home.  Sad days.

I hope you and your loved ones are doing okay, sorry I don't check in often, I can view the forums on my phone, but can't post apparently.

Please take care, I think of several of you often.

Jennifer

Hi, Jennifer,

Thank you for posting an update! I'm happy that you and your husband are at home and in good hands. I'm sorry you're both going through a difficult time. You can also call the LUNGevity Lung Cancer Helpline at 844-360-5864, Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm ET.

If you'd like, I can work with you to try to set up your phone so that you can post in the forums.

With gratitude,

Jennifer,

Thank you for your kind wishes on our health while enduring your husband's plight.

My wife and I investigated hospice care when my treatment possibilities waned. Those were difficult times, not for me but for my wife. For her to face my future with only love and consideration of my welfare was one of the kindest acts I've ever experienced.

You both are still very much a part of our community.

Stay the course.

Tom

Hi Jennifer,

I'm glad to hear that your husband is able to be at home with hospice. I've known several people including my mom for whom hospice was a real blessing and helped them  find comfort  and peace physically and emotionally in their final months and days. I hope it can be so for your husband and for you also.

  • 1 month later...

Hi there,

Thank you for your sweet replies. Jay passed away peacefully on February 8th.  Less than 9 months after diagnosis.

My daughter and I are doing okay, getting use to everything...heartbroken of course.

Please take care my friends.

Jennifer

I'm sorry, too, for your loss.  But I'm glad for all of you that he got to be at home with you for those last several days.  I'm sure that was a comfort to him.

You and your family are in my thoughts.

Jennifer I am so sorry for your loss.  I think I know what you are going through. I am a survivor but

my husband, Jay,  also got lung cancer and it was very aggressive and it spread rapidly and took him in months also.

I miss him so much .

Jennifer,

It is never easy to lose a husband and to lose one to lung cancer adds mayhem to the burden of loss.  Thank you for caring and loving Jay till his end.

Stay the course.
