Spencer Moseley
Hello. I am the son of a cancer patient. He has had SCLC for about 6 months. Does anyone have info on writing a Grant? He needs to ask for some funding for a different treatment. I don't have all the details and will post when I have them, but looking if someone has a resource out there to help or point me in the right direction. KatieB
HI Spencer, I'm not certain what you mean by "grant" but I will answer as best I can. There are several organizations that offer patient financial assistance. Cancer Care and Patient Advocate Foundation are two of them. You can call the helpline for more information 844-360-5864 Also, most pharmacuetical companies have a patient assistance program that help with co pays and costs of treatment drugs. I suggest finding out what drug name your father will be on and connecting with their assistance program. And finally- most if not all clinical trial treatments are free of cost to the patient. I'm on a clinical trial myself and all scans, labs and medications are free of cost. Many clinical trials are viable treatment options for late stage patients so they shouldn't be discounted. For more information and resources you can click on our Survivor (or caregiver) resource center https://lungevity.org/for-patients-caregivers/survivor-resource-center/resources-for-survivors I hope some of this helps. Please keep us updated! Best hopes, KatieB Tom Galli
