Imagining Forever

Lyrics of "I can only imagine" by Mercy Me.

Written by a Christian giving his thoughts about what it will be like when he meets God face to face....... This is even more powerful when the lyrics are set to music, beautiful song, really.

I can only imagine

Artist: Mercy Me

I can only imagine what it will be like

When I walk by Your side

I can only imagine what my eyes will see

When Your face is before me

I can only imagine

I can only imagine

(Chorus next)

Surrounded by Your glory

What will my heart feel?

Will I dance for You Jesus?

Or in awe of You be still?

Will I stand in Your presence?

Or to my knees will I fall?

Will I sing hallelujah?

Will I be able to speak at all?

I can only imagine

I can only imagine

I can only imagine when that day comes

And I find myself standing in the Son

I can only imagine when all I will do

Is forever, forever worship You

I can only imagine

I can only imagine

(chorus 2x)(ad-lib)

I can only imagine

When all I will do

Is forever, forever worship You

I can only imagine.

One of my favorites also. Our Sr. pastor has sung this before in our services. Thank you for posting the lyrics. You might want to go to the following website for some beautiful Christian songs. The website is:

gracegrace.com. She was at our women of faith fellowship a few weeks back. Her voice is so healing, spiritual and beautiful. I don't know if you have ever been to healing rooms or if they have them in Michigan. We have them here in Califonia. We have been to the healing rooms in Santa Maria, California. If you visit their website healingrooms.com it will tell you more about them. They are part of the four square church. You can also read the testimonials on their website...

Blessings and prayers for you and your family

Hi,

I had never heard this song but plan on finding it somewhere.I love the lyrics.I am going to paste the lyrics to a Jackson Browne song that helped me a whole bunch when I lost a fiancee to diabetes way back in the 80's.I just always found inspiration in this song although it is sad.I read somewhere that he wrote this after finding that a girlfriend or wife who was a dancer had committed suicide.I cannot veryify that but I do love these words.TBone

Artist(Band):Jackson Browne

(Print the Lyrics)

FOR A DANCER Lyrics

Keep a fire burning in your eye

Pay attention to the open sky

You never know what will be coming down

I don't remember losing track of you

You were always dancing in and out of view

I must have thought you'd always be around

Always keeping things real by playing the clown

Now you're nowhere to be found

I don't know what happens when people die

Can't seem to grasp it as hard as I try

It's like a song I can hear playing right in my ear

That I can't sing

I can't help listening

And I can't help feeling stupid standing 'round

Crying as they ease you down

'Cause I know that you'd rather be here dancing

Dancing our sorrow away

(Right on dancing)

No matter what fate chooses to play

(There's nothing you can do about it anyway)

Just do the steps that you've been shown

By everyone you've ever known

Until the dance becomes your very own

No matter how close to yours

Another's steps have grown

In the end there is one dance you'll do alone

Keep a fire for the human race

Let your prayers go drifting into space

You never know what will be coming down

Perhaps a better world is drawing near

And just as easily it could all disappear

Along with whatever meaning you might have found

Don't let the uncertainty turn you around

(The world keeps turning around and around)

Go on and make a joyful sound

Into a dancer you have grown

From a seed somebody else has thrown

Go on ahead and throw some seeds of your own

And somewhere between the time you arrive

And the time you go

May lie a reason you were alive

But you'll never know

Here's one I think you would like Bonoja,

A Canadian Christian songwriter Steve Bell composed it. His web site is

www.signpostmusic.com

Wings of an Eagle - Music and Lyric by Steve Bell

Adapted from Isaiah 40:31

As we hope in the Lord

We will gain our strength

We will run for miles

We will stand up straight

We will not grow weary

We will not grow faint

On the wings of an eagle we will rise

On the wings of an eagle we will rise

On the wings of an eagle we will rise

For our hope is found

In the power of God

On the wings of an eagle we will rise

On the wings of an eagle we will rise

For the Lord who is God

Takes His people home

Not to be afraid

As we journey the road

Hand in hand we’ll be walking

With the Lord our God

On the wings of an eagle we will rise

OH MY GOSH!

I can't even believe you just wrote the words to that song. We had a big discussion about that song in church yesterday and the paster and his wife(the music director) told a story about why that song was so special to them.

I had never heard it before yesterday, but the words really touched my heart. Thank you for sharing this wonderful song with everyone here!

This song has extra special meaning to me - because I chose it for my dad's funeral video....we had pictures of him from baby on up on the screen with this song playing.

It was truly gutwrenching and beautiful at the same time.

Every time I hear this song on the radio now, I stop breathing.

Katie,

Mercy Me is a very talented group. that is really cool that they are from your area.

I can only imagine has "crossed over" to some pop / soft rock stations in Michigan! (Several years after being the top Christian song of the year.) It is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. I recommend all here find a copy and listen, it can be life (heart ) changing..

God Bless

Joe,

That is a beautiful song. I need to find a copy! I just got back from my 92 year old grandmother's funeral in Minnesota (BRRR)yesterday and that song really made me smile. Jesus just may be the only one who could leave her speechless. It is so wonderful to think of both her and my father-in-law being in a such a loving place with no pain or worries. I know I would have a much harder time with today(6 mos. since he left us) without my faith. Thanks for sharing.
