RAY A
I want to share the words to a song from Lee Ann Womack that I have asked my wife to play for my kids IF and When I die. She bought me the CD for Christmas and I listen to it every day and I want to share the words with you all. I HOPE YOU DANCE BY LEE ANN WOMACK I hope you never lose your sense of wonder You get your fill to eat but always keep that hunger May you never take one single breath for granted God forbid love ever leave you empty handed I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens Promise me that you'll give fate the fighting chance And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance I hope you dance I hope you dance I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance Never settle for the path of least resistance Living might mean taking chances but they're worth taking Lovin' might be a mistake but it's worth making Don't let some hell bent heart leave you bitter When you come close to selling out reconsider Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance I hope you dance (Time is a wheel in constant motion always) I hope you dance (Rolling us along) I hope you dance (Tell me who wants to look back on their years and wonder) I hope you dance (Where those years have gone) I hope you still feel small when you stand by the ocean Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens Promise me that you'll give faith the fighting chance And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance Dance I hope you dance I hope you dance (Time is a wheel in constant motion always) I hope you dance (Rolling us along) I hope you dance (Tell me who wants to look back on their years and wonder) I hope you dance (Where those years have gone) (Tell me who wants to look back on their years and wonder) I hope you dance (Where those years have gone)
Laurie
Ray, Hi that is a beautiful song and I love it. My Daddy danced to that song with my sister at her wedding. I personally have adopted the Mirah Carey song "I can make it through the rain"..... Laurie
Don Wood
It is a very beautiful song, and Lee Ann does a smashing job of it. Makes me shiver! Don

Snowflake
Ray, Married my husband because he dances... Work like you don't need the money, love like you've never been hurt, dance like no one is watching. ~Mark Twain We happen to like this song, too. BeckyCW
Love the song, thanks for the chance to read the lyrics -- I can never remember it all. It is beautiful. And Becky, thank YOU -- I always see that quote ("... dance like no one is watching.") and always wonder who said it first. Now I know! Same guy who said one should never marry unless one absolutely can't help it. (Seems many of us couldn't help it, and that's good.) sharyn
Ray - That happens to be one of my absolute favorite songs. The lyrics are wonderful, but I have to admit, I cry almost every time I hear it - It was released a few weeks after my Dad was diagnosed so I connect it with his fight against lung cancer. Karen
Ray, My mother-in-law heard that song one day after my FIL had passed away and she felt it was his song to her. You should've seen them dance together. Mexican dancing is kind of like a cross between a polka and a waltz and they were pure magic on a dance floor. Anyway, I found a book just last week for my MIL that has some inspirational sayings written to go with the lines of the song. It even comes with a CD of the single. I'll try to get the publisher name from her when she gets back from Texas. (She is there seeing some of his family for a few weeks.) The book struck me as something very appropriate to give to kids as well. Glad you thought to share with everyone here. Karen M.
