How do you manage the superficial side effects of treatment?  Things like hair loss and other side effects that can be seen by others?

The only treatment I’ve had is surgery.  I have three scars on my right side.  I spent Thanksgiving weekend in Florida and we were at a community pool.  It was the first time I was around people I didn’t know.   I didn’t really think about it until my wife suggested I put heavier sunblock on the scars so that they wouldn’t become more pronounced.  She was only trying to be helpful but the result was I become conscious of them.  If anyone ever asks about them I think I’ll tell them I was in a knife fight.  That’s kind of true.
