Scruboak
I’ve officially been postponed for lung nodule treatment in the near future. The little bugger is growing but not fast enough and PET scan was minimal. I’m supposed to come back in a month “when all of this (coronavirus) is over” and then they’ll decide what to do. However, the PET/CT did light up astronomically on my esophagus😫. I have been hustled over to a gastro-oncologist for an “endoscopic ultrasound with EGD” on Friday of this week. So confused. I snuck a nicotine lozenge several hours before the scan - possible screw up. Suzan
BridgetO
Assuming the nicotine lozenge contained sugar in some form, that might have interfered with the PET scan, which tracks a radioaactive sugar solution in your body. Did you "fess up" to the lozenge? Be sure to tel the gastro-onc about it. It could be important info. ColleenRae
Tom Galli
Susan, Either sugar or nicotine might light up the PET. How large is astronomically? Did the CT scan show anything significant about your esophagus? If no, then the lozenge might be the culprit. Stay the course. Tom
G.A.M.
It's a confused time of chaos, @Scruboak. My life is in a state of suspended animation until things go back to normal. At this point, I'd be grateful to get a call from any of the doctors who have cancelled my appointments.
TJM
FWIW. I had a phone consult with my Onc today and asked him what the odds were my treatment would be effected by the COVID 19 lockdown. I live in Washington state which is still a hot spot. He told me that since the intent of my treatment was curative it would have to get very bad for them to stop. I hung up before what he said dawned on me...curative. Awesome little nugget IMO. Peace Tom G.A.M. and Rose Kaiser
G.A.M.
That's very good news, @TJM. I am hoping for the same since my class is IIIA. I'm hoping none of the cancer critters got away during all this waiting. TJM and Tom Galli
